Tigers: 9-10 regular season champs

The Tigers were the winners for the regular season play in the 9-10 year-old league. They finished the season with a record of 10-2. Relay is a reality check

I’m ashamed to admit this, but Friday night was the first Marion County Relay for Life event I’ve ever participated in. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve attended numerous Relay for Life events, but always from behind the lens of my camera. I’ve never actually been a part of the event, so to speak.

Collins and Tonge awarded Verda Calhoun Scholarships

The Marion County chapter of the NAACP presented two scholarships to local students who will be enrolled in college in the fall. Both scholarships are worth $500. They were presented recently at Lebanon Baptist Church.

Calhoun was a longtime president of the Marion County NAACP, and her family presented the scholarship.

Wise to appear on TV show ‘Snapped’ Sunday

The story of how a Campbellsville woman was convicted of killing her husband will be featured on national television Sunday night.
Kathleen Wise, 62, who admitted to killing her husband with an overdose of liquid morphine, will be featured on an episode of "Snapped," which airs on the Oxygen network. The show will air at 9 p.m. and repeat throughout the week.
Wise, formerly of 4203 Bengal Road, is serving life in prison at the Kentucky Correctional Institute for Women after a jury found her guilty during a one-day trial last July.

Remembering our fallen officers

The tragic loss of Officer Jason Ellis recently has left our community, the commonwealth and the nation grieving for this outstanding member of the Bardstown Police Department who was passionate about his work and the people he protected.
As a seven-year member of the police force, Officer Ellis was well known to all of us. He was a dedicated public servant, a devoted family man, and a wonderful citizen. Without a doubt, the passing of this fine brave man is a profound loss for all of us.

Grand Buffet is open

The Grand Buffet is now open in the Lebanon Trade Center. The hours are 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
The Grand Buffet has a large buffet, which includes Chinese, American seafood and Sushi. On Saturday and Sundays, the restaurant offers more seafood options.

Free pumpkin growing contest for kids

Campbellsville Farm Credit is sponsoring a FREE pumpkin growing contest for kids ages 18 and under in Marion, Washington, Adair, Green, and Taylor counties. The seeds and growing guides are provided by the Farm Credit Mid-America office in Campbellsville, which serves the counties mentioned.
