Two years ago, the future of Central Kentucky Community Action Council, Inc., was uncertain.
The agency was experiencing significant financial difficulties, which resulted to changes in their transportation program for senior citizens and to their Head Start program in an effort to reduce expenses. At that time, Lynn Robey, executive director of Central Kentucky Community Action, spoke with government agencies in Marion and surrounding counties and asked for additional financial support in hopes of getting the agency back on its feet.
I received a call from Stephen at the Enterprise office, and my first thought was “What did I mess up?”
When he got on the phone, I was told this was one of the early deadline weeks (office was closed Monday).
“I knew that, but thanks for calling” was my response. That’s what I said. What I thought was, oh crap, forgot all about that!

Long-time Marion County teacher Mary Lewis has died.
Lewis, 69, was involved in a two-vehicle accident around noon Jan. 15 at the intersection of Depot Street and Walnut Street in Lebanon.
"It appears something happened to her before they even hit. She was slumped over when she crossed into the intersection," said Lebanon Police Officer Allen Corbett, who investigated the accident.

For the first time, more than 6,000 students have made the University of Kentucky Dean’s List. UK has released its dean’s list for the Fall 2014 semester.
A record high 6,366 students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance. That’s an increase of nearly 500 since Fall 2013 and nearly 900 more than Spring 2014.
