Lady Knights endured ups and downs during season

In a season that featured an eight-game winning streak and never more than a two-game losing streak, the Marion County Lady Knights’ softball season featured its share of ups and downs. Overall, the team finished the season with a record of 23-11, and was eliminated in the opening round of the regional tournament by Central Hardin with a 2-0 loss on May 27.  Central Hardin went on to win the regional tournament and advance to the state tournament, and the Lady Bruins did not allow a single run over the three-game regional.

Thousands mourn fallen hero

Bardstown Police Officer Jason Ellis was remembered at his funeral Thursday as a man who loved life and liked to make people laugh.
In his eulogy for the young officer, who was murdered early Saturday morning, Police Chief Rick McCubbin told funny stories about Ellis, who would dress up in ridiculous costumes at office parties and play pranks on his fellow officers.

Support continues for fallen Bardstown officer

Three mayors and two police chiefs from four Hardin County cities traveled to Bardstown City Hall Friday, where they delivered donations to the reward fund for the arrest and conviction of the suspect in the May 25 shooting of Bardstown Police Officer Jason Ellis.
Kentucky State Police is heading the investigation and have received several tips, all of which they are following up on.

Divine brothers head to Junior Olympics regionals

High school track season may have ended, but competition continues for Brooks and Ty Divine. Both boys participated in the USATF (USA Track & Field) Kentucky Association meet on Saturday, June 1, at the Christian Academy of Louisville.
Ty competed in the “youth” division and Brooks in the “young men” division. Both boys met the qualifications to advance to the regional meet in Michigan in July. The results were as follows:

Old Mill Days is this weekend

Bradfordsville’s 24th annual Old Mill Days celebration returns Friday and Saturday, June 7-8. The theme for this year’s celebration is “The Little Town That Could.”
The festivities open Friday at 5 p.m. The flea market, arts and crafts and rides — including a bull ride, a bouncy house, an inflatable obstacle course, a pool slide, a train and battery-powered cars — will be available. Be sure to dress appropriately to enjoy everything.
