The 14th annual Hats Off to Kentucky’s Horse Industry Day – featuring free, family-friendly events designed to celebrate the horse – is Saturday, July 30, from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Hats Off Day is presented by Official Partner Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital with free admission sponsored by Central Bank and additional sponsorship by Zoetis and other industry leaders.
When Patrick Patterson joined the Toronto Raptors two years ago, his mother admits she did not know coach Dwane Casey was a former Kentucky player or assistant coach.
"I just did not know that at all," said Tywanna Patterson. "But I love Dwane Casey. He lets young men play their game. The NBA is a little different from college. In college, whatever the coach says goes. In the NBA, there is more leeway and if a player has an idea for setting up a play or something, the coaches listen.
The Men O'War Foundation is a new, up and coming non-profit charity that plans to take non-repurposable, off-the-track thoroughbreds and house them on a working farm run by combat veterans.
The charity is the brainchild of Robin and Adam Thorogood. Adam is a veteran of the War on Terror and Robin is his wife. The CEO of the foundation is Joe Matias, a War on Terror veteran as well.
