Marion County Board of Education...

The Marion County Board of Education will be having its regular monthly meeting tonight at 5:30 p.m. at the administration building located at 755 East Main Street in Lebanon.
The agenda includes:
* MCHS Student Drug Testing program report
* Summer Feeding Report
* Project based learning report
* Consider approval of school lunch prices for the 2013-14 school year
* Consider approval of the Application for Participation in the Community Based Work Transition program for the 2013-14 school year and authorize matching funds

Some feel park field fee isn’t...

The Lebanon City Council recently approved a recommendation from the park board to begin charging a $125 fee for teams to use its ball fields (not including Little League and schools teams) and some think its unfair.
Lebanon Mayor Gary Crenshaw reported to the council Monday, June 10, that he received a call from a representative on the Sluggers traveling team complaining about the fee.

Tourist commission to meet this...

The Lebanon Tourist and Convention Commission is scheduled to meet at 3:30 this afternoon in room 300 of the Centre Square Convention Center.

- Marketing plan for 2013-14

- Budget for 2013-14

Registration for arts camp...

The Marion County Arts and Humanities Council is holding its annual arts and humanities camp July 8-12.
The council will accept registrations until June 25. Information and applications are available online at www.marioncountyarts.com.
The cost to participate in the camp is $10. Scholarships are available.
Campers will have the opportunity to explore fine arts, music, drama, cooking, games, dance, and crafts.

Second season of ‘Wildman’...

The Turtleman still has plenty of fans.
When Ernie Brown Jr. dropped by the Marion County Heritage Center Thursday, fans including a family, a couple and a pair of missionaries took time to pose for pictures and get autographs from the Turtleman.
The second season of Brown’s Animal Planet program, “Call of Wildman,” started June 2 with episodes featuring the Turtleman catching a llama on a Marion County farm, venomous snakes at a community pool in Danville, and a skunk.
"We're filming every day," Brown said.

Some local citizens have heard about a proposed Bluegrass Pipeline to run through Nelson and 17 other Kentucky counties on its way from Pennsylvania and New York to the Gulf area. Some haven’t. Many are seeking more information. It might be helpful to lay out some of the issues from the perspective of community sustainability.

Three mayors and two police chiefs from four Hardin County cities traveled to Bardstown City Hall Friday, where they delivered donations to the reward fund for the arrest and conviction of the suspect in the May 25 shooting of Bardstown Police Officer Jason Ellis.
Kentucky State Police is heading the investigation and have received several tips, all of which they are following up on.
