The new school year is fast approaching, and some incoming first grade students got a “Jump Start” last week.
Gayla Kelly, a first-grade teacher at West Marion Elementary, said the program is beneficial for students as they make the transition out of kindergarten.
“It gives us an opportunity to review what was learned last year,” she said.
As part of the program, students practiced reading, writing and math skills. They also participated in art and music activities.
And they had fun, too.
