Fit Kids gymnastics competed at the Shawn Johnson Holiday Classic at Broadbent arena over the weekend.
The Fit Kids Fusion All-Stars junior and senior teams competed Sunday at Jam Fest in Lexington. The junior team won first place and the senior team won third place and both squads won a bid to the U.S. nationals in Indianapolis in March.
On the evening of Jan. 9, the Kentucky Bluegrass Chapter of Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS) will present the $1,000 Bailey/Zimmerman Scholarship, and $1000 Kentucky Bluegrass Chapter Scholarship. Students eligible are undergraduate agriculture or natural resource students enrolled in a college or university in the KY Bluegrass Chapter region during the fall of 2014. Current high school students taking college credits are not eligible.
A new face has appeared on the Enterprise’s sports pages recently. Casey Sowers, a senior at Marion County High School, has started covering sports for the Enterprise. Former sports correspondent Nick Schrager recently accepted a reporter’s position at The Springfield Sun.
Derek Jones, a farmer in Marion County, has been selected to participate in the Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) Leadership Enhancement for Agricultural Development (LEAD) program. Jones joins 15 other Kentuckians for LEAD’s two-year, intensive learning experience – a program that KFB created to prepare future agricultural leaders for tomorrow’s challenges. The 2015-16 LEAD class was announced on December 5 during KFB’s annual meeting in Louisville.
