  • KSP to participate in prescription...

    The Kentucky State Police along with the DEA will participate in a national prescription take-back initiative to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from our communities on April 30.
    Post 15 will accept expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs, non-controlled and over the counter substances from local citizens from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CST Saturday, April 30.  Intra-venous solutions, injectibles and syringes will not be accepted.

    As daylight hours grow longer, so do our spring and summer “to do” lists.  Outdoor activities and adventures are at the top of that list for many Kentucky families.  4-H Summer Camp is an ideal place to explore the great outdoors, make new friends, and participate in fun group activities.

    Nancy Miles has a suggestion for anyone who is interested in old barns, landscapes or quilting. On the next nice sunny day, consider traveling Marion County’s barn quilt trail.
    “I’ve lived here all my life, and I’ve been to ends of the county that I didn’t even know existed,” she said.
    Miles helped paint some of the 8-foot-by-8-foot patches herself, but she’s been impressed with the variety of the patterns around the county.
    And she thinks you’ll be impressed, too.

  • KSP reminds farmers of farm plate...

    With the renewal of Kentucky farm registration plates due March 31, the Kentucky State Police reminds the public about the proper use of farm plates.
    There are two different types of farm registration plates. The first is the FFA FARM plate.  The second is the FARM LIMITED plate.
    The FFA FARM plate has a registered gross weight of 38,000 pounds.  When calculating the gross weight, one must include the weight of the truck, trailer, occupants, and its load.

  • March is Colon Cancer Awareness...

    The Kentucky Cancer Program District Cancer Council is launching a public awareness campaign to increase colon cancer screening with “Dress in Blue Day” on Friday, March 4. Council partners are joining organizations, businesses, schools and churches throughout the community to encourage everyone to wear blue. Activities will continue throughout the year to provide education and special programs.

  • Women’s Center has new rooms,...

    Some changes have occurred at the Spring View Hospital Women’s Center recently.
    Among those changes include a new service and a new suite.
    Of the brick and mortar variety, a new LDRP suite has been added. LDRP means that a woman giving birth is able to go through labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care all in the same room.

    The Hall’s Angels 4-H Club was organized in Mrs. Hall’s fourth-grade class at Lebanon Elementary School on Sept. 14, 2010.
    The following officers were elected: Trevor Douglas, president; Laura Hardin, vice-president; Destiny Mattingly, secretary and Taylor Webb, reporter.
    The first meeting of the Hall’s Angels 4-H Club was held Oct. 19. 2010.

    The Explosives 4-H Club was organized in Mrs. Pierce’s fifth-grade class at Lebanon Elementary School on Sept. 14, 2010.
