• The 14th annual Hats Off to Kentucky’s Horse Industry Day – featuring free, family-friendly events designed to celebrate the horse – is Saturday, July 30, from 4 to 10 p.m. at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Hats Off Day is presented by Official Partner Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital with free admission sponsored by Central Bank and additional sponsorship by Zoetis and other industry leaders.  

  • The story that has captivated audiences for more than 75 years comes to life at the J. Dan Talbott Amphitheater as The Wizard of Oz returns to My Old Kentucky Home, presented by Salt River Electric.
    Join Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman and Lion as they follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City in search of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The production runs 10 performances on Thursday and Saturday evenings through Aug. 6 at 8 p.m.


    Every year parents of high school juniors and seniors spend hundreds of dollars for that perfect prom dress, makeup, tux, dinner and limo ride. But there are many young people, due to their social inabilities, that never get that opportunity.
    Recently, participants from Marion County, Washington County and Nelson County Industries experienced their very own prom. Many people from the community offered donations and volunteered their time during the event.

  • Isaiah House/Patricia’s Place is pleased to announce the acquisition of a recent anonymous gift of $200,000. Isaiah House/Patricia’s Place is a dual licensed, AODE/BHSO, and nationally accredited, Joint Commission, residential substance abuse treatment program. Located in Washington County, Isaiah House has been serving the state since 1999 and has served every county in the last two years. Isaiah House/Patricia’s Place has over 123 clients in treatment every day at the two locations and six sober living homes.


  • Hosparus Green River needs volunteers in Adair, Green, Marion, Taylor and Washington counties and will offer a free training session from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28 (lunch provided), at its Campbellsville office, 295 Campbellsville Bypass (behind Coltons).

  • The Marion County Heartland Safe Community Coalition has officially launched the Summer Scorecard program for its second year. The program is designed to promote the wellbeing of people living and working in Marion County and includes a variety of activities that people of all ages can complete, and in doing so, will make them eligible to win a variety of free prizes at the end of the summer.
