  • One more time

    In football, no game ends in a tie.  

    On Sept. 20, the Marion County Knights took their third win of the season with a one-point victory over the Allen County-Scottsville Patriots, 21-20 in overtime.  

  • Volleyball wins four in a row

     The Marion County Lady Knights put together a four-game winning streak, which included wins over the Adair County Lady Indians on Sept. 16, and the Campbellsville Lady Eagles on Sept. 18.

    Against the Lady Indians (4-6), the Lady Knights’ strong serving and offense allowed them to win 25-15, 25-17, 25-17.

  • Golf: Knights slay Dragons

     Marion County Knights struck down the Green Country Dragons last week 176-203.

    “[We had] a slow start but finished up strong,” Trevor Burchell said. 

    Burchell said Elijah Ratliff from Green County played well. Ratliff led Green County by shooting a 38.

    “The top performers were steady,” Burchell said. 

  • Soccer: Knights struggle in tough week

     The Marion County Knights lost three straight games last week against the Thomas Nelson Generals (2-8) on Sept. 16, the Danville Admirals (3-7) on Sept. 18, and the Frankfort Panthers (7-4) on Sept. 20.

    Marion County only managed two goals in all three games, losing to the Generals 5-1, the Admirals 3-1, and the Panthers 5-0. 

  • Soccer: Lady Knights drop three more

    The Marion County Lady Knights opened their week of play with a 6-1 loss to the Western Hills Lady Wolverines (6-4) on Sept. 15.

    Lady Knights Coach Derek Cissell appeared upset at half time.

    “We didn’t show up ready to play,” he said after the game. “We came out lackadaisical and before we knew it we were down three goals.”

  • Cross country: Brahm takes third at LaRue County meet

     Marion County’s cross country team competed at LaRue County on Sept. 11 and at the Mercer County All-Comers on Sept. 16.

    Unfortunately, Marion County didn’t take any top spots in Mercer County, though Laurel Brahm took a third place win in LaRue County.

  • Football: Knights sting Yellow Jackets

    Sometimes all it takes is a point.

    The Marion County Knights squashed the Woodford County Yellow Jackets 30-29 on their own field on Sept. 12. The win brought the Knights’ record to 2-1.

    “It’s a great payoff,” Knights Interim Head Coach Matthew “Moo Moo” Mattingly said after the game. 

  • Soccer: Knights ax out Raiders, fall to Rebels

    Coming off a loss to the Nelson County Cardinals, the Marion County Knights hosted and defeated the Hart County Raiders, 4-1, on Sept 9. 

    Knights Coach Greg Conley said he was happy with team’s aggressive play, though he wished they scored more goals. 

    “Obviously it’s a district game so we needed to win,” Conley said. 

  • Volleyball: Lady Knights add two wins

     Revenge is a dish best served cold. 

    The Marion County Lady Knights (3-5) jumped out of their slump to take two victories against the Thomas Nelson Generals and the Taylor County Lady Cardinals last week.

  • Soccer: Lady Knights fall to John Hardin, LaRue County

     The Marion County Lady Knights’ defense was put to the test when they took on the John Hardin Lady Bulldogs on Sept. 8. As a “Super Harvest Moon” rose over the horizon, the Lady Knights (1-9) fell to the Lady Bulldogs (5-2), 2-0.

    Despite the loss, they Lady Knights were upbeat after the match and as a group was feeling more confident and thought they played with more effort.
