  • First Lady Knights softball camp

    The first Marion County Lady Knights softball camp will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 17-19 at the MCHS softball field.
    During the camp, players will learn batting, fielding, pitching, catching and team skills.
    The third day of the camp, June 19, is for pitchers and catchers only.
    The fee for the camp is $35 per player. A sack lunch and t-shirt is included.
    Anyone interested in participating should reply to Coach Todd Spalding at toddspaldinglaw@hotmail.com no later than June 15.

  • Knights outlast Bardstown, Nelson County

    The Marion County Knights baseball team finished up their regular season winning two of their four games last week.
    The Knights lost to Bethlehem and Russell County on the road before defeating Nelson County at home and beating Bardstown on the road. The Knights closed the regular season with an 18-12 record.  
    Marion County was scheduled to play Taylor County in the opening round of district play last night. If they won, will play the winner of Adair County/Campbellsville tonight in Adair County.

  • Lady Knights win three of four to close season

    The Marion County Lady Knights softball won three of their final four regular season contests, leaving their record at 22-9 going into district play.
    Marion County defeated Campbellsville, 14-2, on Monday in the first round of the district tournament. They were scheduled to play Taylor County last night for the championship of the 20th District Tournament.

  • Top players take out tennis Knight, Lady Knights

    Three members of the Marion County tennis teams competed in the state tournament last Thursday.
    Sophomore Alex Spalding, who won the regional crown, competed in the state tournament at Shillito Park for the Knights, while the duo of Elyssa Holt and Madison Cassidy, who were regional semifinalists to earn their state spot, competed at the University of Kentucky Boone/Downing Tennis Center for the Lady Knights.

  • Divine Repeat

    For the second consecutive year, Marion County’s Brooks Divine claimed the KHSAA 2A state pole vaulting title.
    Divine, a senior, won this year’s event by clearing 14 feet three inches at the state meet, which was held at Owsley Frazier Cardinal Park on the University of Louisville campus. Last year, he won by clearing 13’ 6”.
    “I had a goal at the beginning of last year and that was to be a back-to-back state champion and to be able to fulfill that goal and to sign at the University of Kentucky is a dream come true!” Divine said.

  • Knights baseball games cancelled

    The Marion County Knights varsity baseball team was scheduled to play five games this past week. However, due to inclement weather and poor field conditions, no games were played.
    The freshman team was able to play a game against Washington County Wednesday, May 8.

  • Lady Knights win two, lose one on the diamond

    The Marion County Lady Knights softball team played three games last week. The team’s record now stands at 19-8 going into the final week of regular season play.
    “A very disappointing week of softball,” Head Coach Todd Spalding said. “In order for us to have a realistic chance of advancing deep into the postseason some things have to change and change fast. We have entirely too much moping, pouting and self-pity among some. We still have time to get this right but with one week left in the regular season that time is running short.”

  • Four athletes qualify for state competition

    The Marion County track team hosted the regional track meet at Bardstown High School Thursday.
    Overall, the girls’ team finished in 11th place with 13 total points and the boys’ team finished in fifth place with 45 points.
    The top two finishers in each event automatically qualified for the state meet and then the next 10 finishers in an event from across the state advance to the state meet with an at-large bid.

  • Hyatt signs with Campbellsville
