  • Football: Knights win another ‘one’

    History always repeats itself.
    Picking up from where they left off last week – in soaking conditions, the Marion County Knights took their third one-point win of the season over the Mercer County Titans on Oct. 10. The Knights (5-2)  won the heated affair 20-19.

  • Volleyball: Lady Knights pick up senior night victory

    The Marion County Lady Knights took a victory over the Bardstown Lady Tigers on Oct. 9.
    Adding icing to the top of their cake, the 3-1 victory was a sweet ending for the 12 seniors of the team because it also happened to be senior night.
    “We played really hard in the beginning,” Lady Knights senior Mckenzie Reynolds said.
    The Lady Knights (18-14) lost a chance to win the game in the third set and finished 25-21, 25-18, 21-25, 25-22.
    Reynolds said they relaxed in third set which is what gave Bardstown (13-16) the win.

  • Soccer: Marion County hosting district tournaments

    On Oct. 9, the Marion County Knights visited the Bethlehem Eagles for their final game of the regular season. Unfortunately, the Knights fell 6-1 in the contest against the Eagles (9-8-1).
    The Knights (3-13-3) will begin post-season play on Tuesday after press time. Marion County will host this year’s 18th district tournament, and will be hosting all soccer district tournaments until further notice.

  • Volleyball: Lady Knights fall to E’town

    The Lady Knights entered a three-game losing streak when they fell to the Elizabethtown Panthers on Oct. 2. 

    The Lady Knights fell 3-0 dropping all three sets 25-16, 25-15, 25-13.

    Lady Knights Coach David Hibbard said the difference between the Lady Knights and Lady Panthers was serve and serve receive.

  • Golf: Marion County ends season at regional tournament

     The Marion County Knights’ season came to a close as they finished 14th out of 20 schools in the 4th Region Tournament  on Sept. 30. The match was held at Connemara in Nicholasville.

    According to KHSAA, the West Jessamine Colts won the regional title with a total of 306 strokes. They were led by Connor Haas, who shot a 72.

  • Football: Cards fly by Knights

     Playing in icy wind and rain, the Marion County Knights ended their winning streak with a loss to the Taylor County Cardinals, 30-8, in their first district game of the season. 

    The Knights (4-2) were held scoreless by the Cardinals (2-4) until their final minute of play.

  • Soccer: Tigers, Panthers scratch out wins over Knights

     The Marion County Knights were sunk in two battles against the Elizabethtown Panthers on Sept. 30, and the Bardstown Tigers (9-4) on Oct. 2. They tied their fight with the Fort Knox Eagles (3-14) on Oct. 4.  

    They fell to the Tigers 4-1, and tied the Eagles, 1-1.

    Despite keeping the Panthers (14-4) on their toes, the Knights fell 3-0 with two goals and a penalty kick. 

  • Golf: Freshman records hole-in-one

     Hitting a hole-in-one is something most golfers can only dream about. 

    According to Golf Digest’s website, the odds of hitting a hole-in-one are outrageous – 12,500 to 1 if you’re and amateur, 5,000 to 1 if you’re a low handicap, and 2,500 to 1 if you’re a pro. 

  • Soccer: Lady Knights drop to 1-15

     The Marion County Lady Knights soccer team dropped to 1-15 last week when they were crushed, 8-1, by the North Bullitt Lady Eagles (10-7) on Oct. 1. It was the Lady Knights only game last week. Their only goal was scored by Lady Knights senior forward Sara Tucker on an assist from senior defender Casey Sowers.

    From here, they will finish their regular season with matches against the North Hardin Trojans (8-7-1) on Oct. 8 and the Madison Southern Lady Eagles (8-4-1) on Oct. 9.
