  • MCHS football team having a shoe drive to raise funds, make a difference

    The Marion County High School Football Team has launched a shoe collection drive to raise money for new equipment.
    Shoe donations will also support micro-enterprises in developing nations and reduce what goes into landfills.

    The Marion County Lady Knights began the week with a 7-2 win against the Russell County Lakers on May 18. It was the Lady Knights' final home game of the season and also senior night.

  • BASEBALL: Bruins end Knights’ winning streak

    The Marion County Knights took home a 10-0 win against the Bethlehem Eagles on May 9. The Knights jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Dalton Hammond led off the inning with a double, Luke Thomas singled off a bunt, and Hammond scored on a Travis Wiser groundout. Thomas scored on an error when the Eagles mishandled Jared Bradshaw's groundball.

  • SOFTBALL: Lady Knights win two of three

    The Marion County Lady Knights began this week at the Jefferstown Charger Classic on May 13 against the Spencer County Lady Bears with a 4-0 victory. The game remained scoreless until the fifth inning when Brianna Mattingly's two-run RBI single opened the scoring for the Lady Knights. Haley Mattingly produced a solid outing from the mound, giving up only four hits and striking out eight.

  • TENNIS: Knights send three to state

    Though regional team competitions ended on May 3, the Knights were still in action in individual postseason play on May 6 in the first round of postseason play.

    The Marion County Knights opened the week on May 3 against the Adair County Indians. The Knights had clinched no worse than a two seed in the district and looked to stay in contention for a possible one seed.

  • Softball: Lady Knights notch two wins on the road

    The Marion County Lady Knights began last week with a 5-0 win against the Russell County Lakers on May 3. The win improved the Lady Knights' record to 18-5.
    Haley Mattingly threw another shutout, giving up only six hits. Abby Scott went 3-4 from the plate and hit two doubles while Kylie Benningfield added three RBIs to the cause, including two in the first inning.

  • Boys tennis team's run ends at semis

    The Marion County Knights boys tennis team's season came to an end on May 2 in the semifinals against the Taylor County Cardinals. The boys lost 3-2.
    Bryce Spalding won his singles match 6-1, 6-0, while Colby Hood also won his singles match 6-0, 6-0. However, they could not secure a win in doubles play.
