  • Knights slay Dragons in overtime

    Marion County had mixed resulted on Dec. 17 when both the Knights and Lady Knights took on the Green County Dragons in a double header.

    While the Knights (5-3) ended the evening by defeating the Dragons (2-4), 91-83 in overtime, the Lady Knights (3-4) fell to Green County (4-1), 61-58.

    After trailing in the first quarter 15-14, the Lady Knights took the lead in the second.

  • Marion County Holiday Classic is this week

    The Marion County Knights will host the Marion County Holiday Classic this week.

    The games will take place on Dec. 26, 27 and 29.

    Knights Coach Montrelle Irvin said he was excited to get the classic underway, especially because it has been several years since Marion County has hosted a holiday event.

  • Marion County football team presents 2013 season awards

     The Marion County Knights football team held its annual awards banquet on Dec. 18. The Knights, who went 4-7 for the season, received awards for athletics and academics. 

    Season titles and letterman awards were also received by individual players for their achievements.

  • Marion County sweeps contests with Adair County

    Tensions were high as the Marion County Knights and Lady Knights opened district play by hosting the Adair County Indians and Lady Indians. Both the Knights (3-1) and Lady Knights (2-0) would taste victory after defeating their opponents 59-49 and 70-63, respectively.

    Both wins were hard earned. 

  • Marion County teams lose two

    Both the Marion County Knights and Lady Knights tasted defeat on the road over the weekend.

    On Dec. 14, the Lady Knights (2-1) were hosted by the Pleasure Ridge Park Lady Panthers (3-0) in the Dixie Highway Shootout. Unfortunately, the Lady Knights were overcome by the Lady Panthers, 60-54.

  • Dec. 6 boys basketball game has been cancelled

    Due to inclement weather the Marion County basketball game tonight versus Russell County has been cancelled, according to Marion County Athletic Director Robby Peterson.

  • Nothing fishy: bass fishing coming to MCHS

    Jerry Smith spoke to the Marion County Board of Education on Nov. 12 to request permission to create a bass fishing team at Marion County High School.
    On Nov. 26, he got his answer when the board voted 4-1 in favor of adding bass fishing to the high school’s activities.
    Board member Mike Cecil cast the dissenting vote. He said he still had a lot of questions about the program, and he wasn’t sure he was ready to vote on it.
    “I hope I’m wrong on this whole issue,” Mike Cecil said.
