  • Volleyball wraps up successful year

    They went out with a bang, and not with a whimper. 

    The Marion County Lady Knights have wrapped up their season as district champions with a record of 24-12, short of last year’s record of 31-7. It is their sixth consecutive season with more than 20 wins. 

  • Harriers run in regional meet

     After a season of running, the Marion Country boys and girls cross country teams’ final race was at the Class 2A Region 2 cross country championship on Saturday in Bowling Green.

    Marion County girls cross country runner Meredith Bartley, a sophomore, finished the girls 5K run with a time of 24:06.64. She placed 54 out 80. 

  • Goodin-Rogers will miss 2013-14 season for UK women's team

    Former Marion County Lady Knight and current University of Kentucky freshman basketball player Kyvin Goodin-Rogers has been diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism and will miss the 2013-14 season, according to a UK press release.

  • Lady Knights win another district title

    The Marion County Lady Knights won another 20th District championship by defeating the Taylor County Lady Cardinals in three sets (26-14, 25-17, 25-16) on Oct. 22.

     “It feels good,” Lady Knights Coach David Hibbard said. “That’s six in a row for our program.”

    The win also improved Marion County’s record to 24-11 heading into the regional tournament.

  • Lexington Catholic too much for Knights

    The Marion County Knights had a hard time moving the ball on Friday night, as they played host to Lexington Catholic. Marion County was unable to find the end zone until the 10:10 mark of the fourth quarter, when junior Eddie Ponce managed to find pay dirt. The extra point was blocked, though, and the Knights managed only 9 points as they lost, 62-9. 

  • Soccer seasons in review

    Coming within inches of accomplishing their goal of winning the district championship, the Marion County Lady Knights wrapped up their season of ups and downs with a record of 6-12-3. 

    “We got as close as you could get,” Lady Knights Coach Devin Johnson said.

  • Brahm wins 2700 meters

    The Marion County cross country team competed in the Campbellsville All-Comers Meet on Oct. 17. 

    Marion County ‘s Laurel Brahm won in the girls 2700 meter run. Brahm finished with an overall time of 11:05. Maddie Riley of Campbellsville finished second, three seconds behind Brahm.

    The final total time for Marion County was 1:05:05 with an average of 13:01. Taylor County’s overall time was 1:03:50 with an average time of 12:46.

  • Lady Knights are volleyball district champs

    Like a flash, the Marion County Lady Knights defeated the Taylor County Lady Cardinals in three  sets (26-14,25-17,25-16) during the 20th District Championship Tuesday night.
    “It feels good,” Lady Knights Coach David Hibbard said. “That’s six in a row for our program.”
    The Lady Knights dominated the first and second set but faced a little more opposition from the Lady Cardinals in the third set.

  • Boyle County defeats Knights

    The Marion County Knights travelled Friday night to face the undefeated the Boyle County Rebels. 

  • Lady Knights advance to district finals, regionals

    The Marion County Lady Knights made quick work of the Adair County Lady Indians in the first round of the 20th District Tournament Monday night in Campbellsville. Marion County defeated the Lady Indians, 25-17, 25-18, 25-13.

    With the win, the Lady Knights (23-11) earned a chance to play for their district championship Tuesday evening (after press time) against either Taylor County or Campbellsville.
