  • Girls basketball: Lady Knights lose one, win one

    Sitting at 1-2, the Marion County Lady Knights looked to open district play with a win against the Adair County Lady Indians in the boy-girl doubleheader on Dec. 8.
    Despite holding a 13-point halftime lead, the Lady Knights lost 51-45.
    "I gotta find some places to get my scoring from," Head Coach Kenny Mills said.
    The Lady Knights saw their lead reduced to a single point by the end of the third quarter, in which they only scored two points.

  • Swimming: Focused on breaking records

    The Marion County Knights swim team competed against John Hardin Bulldogs, North Hardin Trojans, and the Central Hardin Bruins in the Knights' first home swim meet on Dec. 12.
    Head Coach Katie Kelien was impressed with her team in its first swim meet at home this year.
    "There was a lot of energy among our team," she said. "We had great times and really competitive swims at our first home meet."

  • Boys basketball: Knights open season with four losses

    The Marion County Knights are looking for a win after four straight losses to start their season.
    The Knights traveled down south to play the Glasgow Scotties on Nov. 30.
    Despite building a 9-point lead in the first quarter, the Knights could not keep up with the Scotties' offense and lost the season opener, 96-88.
    "It was an up and down game," Head Coach Montrelle Irvin said.

  • MCHS Cheerleaders runners up in 5th Region competition

    The Marion County High School Cheerleaders competed in the 5th region championship at Central Hardin on Dec. 2, and finished runners up. They defeated several 5th region teams, including Nelson County.
    Senior Kelsie Edelen was one of only two cheerleaders in the region to win the Libby Burr Leadership and Academic Scholarship.
     

  • Lady Knights open week with win, two losses

    The Marion County Lady Knights opened their 2015-16 season by hosting the Bardstown Lady Tigers on Dec. 1.
    "We got off to a slow start against Bardstown," Head Coach Kenny Mills said.
    The Lady Knights trailed 22-12 at the half. But, they came alive in the second half, outscoring the Lady Tigers 39-26 and pulling out a 51-48 victory.
    Halei Howard came alive in the second half, scoring all of her 23 points.

  • Hockey champions

    Lauren Szwarc is carried off the field by her teammate, Audrey Tabor, after winning the 2015 State Field Hockey Championship. The Sacred Heart Academy Valkyries defeated Manual High School by a score of 3-1. Lauren Szwarc is the daughter of Libby Bradshaw Szwarc, and granddaughter of Joe and Millie Bradshaw of Lebanon. Two other teammates also have Lebanon connections. Audrey and Mattie Tabor are daughters of Billy Tabor, formerly of Lebanon.

    While many people were enjoying Thanksgiving leftovers or hosting another meal for their families this past Sunday, the Marion County Knights and Lady Knights were busy practicing, preparing for this week’s official start of their 2015-16 basketball season.
    The Knights began their season Monday night at Glasgow. After taking a nine-point lead at the end of the first quarter, the Knights could not keep up with Glasgow’s offense and came up short, 96-88.

  • Boys basketball: Knights drop first two scrimmages

    The Marion County Knights played two scrimmages on Nov. 14 and Nov. 21 to get ready for the season. They played the Butler Bears on Nov. 14 in the NEXT UP! Recruits Jamboree, but came up short, 49-39.
    "We had a slow start in the game," Head Coach Montrelle Irvin said. "We got better each quarter though."
    The Knights shot 29.5 percent from the floor and committed 21 turnovers.

  • Girls basketball: Lady Knights preparing for season

    The Marion County Lady Knights are ready for the upcoming 2015-16 season despite a recent change at the head coaching position. The Lady Knights will field 27 total players for the junior varsity and varsity.
    This year, the Knights will return two seniors to the team, Katelyn and Samantha Daugherty.
