  • Aquaknights host Nelson County in first meet of season

     

    The Marion County swim team hosted their first meet of the season at the Lebanon Aquatic Center Nov. 27. The Aquaknights took on Nelson County in their season opening meet. The swim team enjoyed quite a bit of success in the meet, and according to Head Coach Holly Buckman, Marion County came out on top in all but two events in the meet.

  • Knights get mixed results in last scrimmage

    The Marion County High School Knights varsity and junior varsity basketball teams took on DuPont Manual at Male High School in their final preseason scrimmage Saturday. The junior varsity team won three of four quarters and went on to win their scrimmage, but the varsity team dropped three of four quarters and did not fare as well.
    Marion County took the first two quarters of the junior varsity scrimmage, each by at least six points. Chase Lancaster and Anton Cowherd each led the team with six points in the first period that the junior varsity Knights won 19-13.

  • Knights host annual Maroon-White scrimmage

    The Marion County High School Knights basketball team hosted their annual maroon-white scrimmage on Monday of last week. Prizes were given out, the Marion County High School band and cheerleaders performed, and the freshman and junior varsity/varsity teams scrimmaged each other.

  • Lady Knights looking strong in final preseason scrimmage

    In their final preseason scrimmage before opening up regular season play, the Marion County Lady Knights looked strong as they easily defeated Bryan Station at the Frankfort Christian Academy Saturday morning. Marion County ran off the first 24 unanswered points to take control of the game early on. The Lady Knights held an impressive 29-8 lead after two quarters. The score was cleared after two periods, and the Lady Knights went on to win the third and fourth quarters 28-17 as well. Overall, Marion County won the scrimmage by a final score of 57-25.

  • Knights fall short in opening scrimmage

    The Marion County Knights basketball team headed to Campbellsville University for their first preseason scrimmage against Clinton County Friday. The Bulldogs finished 24-7 last year, and captured the 16th District title before falling in the opening game of the fourth region tournament to Glasgow in overtime. With a majority of their starting lineup returning, the Bulldogs came out and pressured Marion County into some mistakes, but later in the scrimmage the Knights got back on track.

  • Lady Knights handle Owensboro Catholic

    The Marion County Lady Knights basketball team traveled to Bullitt East High School Saturday morning to take part in the Rick Bolus Shootout. The Lady Knights took on Owensboro Catholic in the opening game of the second day of the shootout. Marion County used three players in double figures to easily control the Lady Aces despite an impressive showing by Rebecca Greenwell. Greenwell, who will most likely be a leading candidate for Kentucky's Miss Basketball award, poured in 40 of her teams 68 points in the game, and only one other Lady Aces player was in double figures.

  • Lady Knights top preseason poll

    The Marion County Lady Knights are an overwhelming pick as the best team in the state in the recently released preseason coaches' poll published in The Courier Journal.
    Seventy-eight coaches from around the state voted on the poll, and the Lady Knights took 64 of those 78 votes. The Lady Knights are rated in front of DuPont Manual who took 12 first place votes.
    No. 5 Assumption and No. 17 Christian Academy each received one first place vote as well.

    The Marion County Lady soccer teams recently held their annual awards banquet at Marion County High School. Several players received awards for their play on the soccer field or for work in the classroom.
