  • Knights have high expectations

    The Marion County High School boys basketball team has been practicing for nearly a month, and is looking forward to beginning their season soon. The Knights will open up play with a pair of preseason scrimmages. On Friday night, the Knights will travel to Campbellsville University to take on Clinton County in the first of the scrimmages. Tip-off is set for 7:45 p.m.

  • Lady Knights look to make history

    Coming off a season that ended in heartbreak in the state championship game, the Marion County High School girls basketball team is ready to get that taste out of their mouths. Even with the loss of four seniors, Head Coach Trent Milby believes that his team can accomplish their goals.  
    "Our expectation is the same as every year, but our main goal is a state title," Milby said. "We have come close and have our sights set on getting the job done this season. Either way it has been a great seven years."

  • Avritt qualifies for state cross country meet

    The Marion County High School cross country team traveled to Bowling Green to compete in the class AA region 2 championship meet Saturday. The team hoped to qualify for state competition, but came up a bit short. However, Morgan Avritt was able to qualify as an individual. Avritt finished 23rd overall in the girls 5k run.

  • Football Knights fall to Lakers

    The Marion County High School football team headed to Russell Springs to take on Russell County in the opening round of the playoffs Friday. Russell County entered the game 10-0, and quickly showed why they haven't lost a game this season. After just one quarter of play, the Lakers led 28-0, and never looked back.

  • Lebanon Middle girls are the state runner-up

    Over the last weekend of October, the Lebanon Middle School 8th grade girls basketball team competed in the middle school state tournament at the Kentucky Basketball Academy in Lexington. Last year the team was nipped by Elkhorn 22-20 in the finals to take home runner-up, and the team was forced to settle for the same result this year.

  • Volleyball players earn All-State honors

    The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association announced the 2012 All-State Teams Wednesday, with two Marion County Lady Knight volleyball players earning honors. Kyvin Goodin-Rogers and Logan Powell, both seniors, were named to the 2012 KVCA Second-Team All-State (AA). According to Marion County Head Coach David Hibbard, this was the first time ever for Marion County that two players were named to an All-State team.

  • Marion County runs in the Meet of Champions

    The Marion County middle school cross country team members traveled to Lexington to take part in the KTCCCA Meet of Champions, which is the state championship meet for middle school. Several members from Marion County competed against nearly 4,500 kids from all over Kentucky in the meet.  
    Head Coach Daniel Johnson noted that he likes what he sees in the future of Marion County cross country.
    "This was the last meet of the year for our middle school kids," Johnson said. "It was a great season and great building block for the future."

  • Knights fall in regular season finale

    The Marion County High School Knights football team traveled to Lawrenceburg Friday to take on Anderson County on a night where the weather was anything but cooperative. After a string of lopsided defeats, the Knights were able to keep the game close but eventually fell by a final score of 28-12. This ends their regular season with an overall record of 2-8, and the team will travel to Russell County on Friday night for the opening round of the playoffs.

  • Kentucky Premier lands Nike sponsorship

    Kentucky Premier was able to accomplish something that all AAU teams hope to achieve. They are only one of 20 AAU teams in the country to be an official Nike Elite Travel Team. This means that the team will now face top class competition each week, and will now have a chance to win the Nike Nationals, the premier girls AAU tournament, which is held every year. According to Nike, the Kentucky Premier team is the fastest ever to achieve this status.

  • Knights postseason run ends

    The Marion County Knights soccer team got a bye in the opening round of the Fifth Region boys soccer tournament in Nelson County, but lost in the semifinals Oct. 16 to the Central Hardin Bruins, 3-0.
    “We came in with high hopes, but left broken hearted,” Knights Coach Greg Conley said.  “I believe it was a combination of nerves and the turf.”
