  • Soccer: Lady Knights drop two

    The Marion County Lady Knights had another tough week, falling to the Hart County Lady Raiders (3-2) on Sept. 4 and the Sayre School Lady Spartans (3-3-1) on Sept. 6.

    Marion County (1-7) fell to Hart County, 5-1, and the Sayre School, 4-0.

    “Most of our girls played the full 80 minutes,” Lady Knights Coach Dereck Cissell said at the end of their game against the Lady Spartans. 

  • Volleyball: Lady Knights fall to Washington County

    The Marion County Lady Knights lost 3-1 to the Washington County Commanderettes on Sept. 4.

    The Lady Knights (1-5) fell after taking only the first set 23-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-19.

    The Lady Knights took a quick 5-0 lead in the first set before letting the Comanderettes score eight straight points to claim an 8-5 advantage. 

  • Soccer: Knights fall to Cards

     After eight days of no play, the Marion County Knights battled the Nelson County Cardinals (5-2) on Sept. 6. 

    Despite outplaying the Cardinals and keeping the ball in their territory, the Knights fell, 5-0. The defeat puts the Knights’ record at 1-4 for the year. 

  • Cross country opens season

    Marion County High School’s cross country team opened up its season by visiting Taylor County on Sept. 4. Official results from that meet were not available as of press time. 

  • Golf: Eagles swoop past Marion County

     The Marion County Knights golf team opened its second month of play with a match against the Bethlehem Eagles on Sept. 3. 

    The Knights lost the match, 161-191.

    Noah Dye fired a 45 to lead Marion County. Trevor Burchell shot a 48. Houston Raikes and Bryce Spalding both shot 49 while Daniel Maupin and Dylan Cambron fired 58 and 62 respectively.

  • Marion County makes its point(s) in opener

    A slow and steady rain set the stage as the Marion County Knights opened their season by triumphing over the Green County Dragons in the Heart of Kentucky Pigskin Classic on Aug. 30.

    The Knights slayed the Dragons, 33-0.

    “It’s a great win. The kids have worked their butt off,” Interim Head Coach Matthew “Moo Moo” Mattingly said in the press box after the game. 

  • Lady Knights lose two volleyball matches

     The Marion County Lady Knights got a rough start to their week by taking on the Bethlehem Banshees (8-1) on Aug. 25 and the Green County Lady Dragons (3-3) on Aug. 26.

    Despite making runs in all three sets, they fell to the Banshees 25-17, 25-12, 25-14.

  • Golf Knights defeat Tigers

     Playing through storms and humidity, the Knights went 1-1 last week by defeating the Bardstown Tigers and falling to the LaRue County Hawks. 

    They fell to the Hawks by five strokes, 166-177, on Aug. 28.

    Playing the front nine, Houston Raikes led the Knights by shooting a 39. Behind Raikes, Trevor Burchell shot a 42. Noah Dye, Daniel Maupin, and Dylan Cambron shot a 43, 47, and 52, respectively. 

  • Soccer Knights lose three in tough week

     The Marion County Knights had a rough start to their second week of play. 

    Coming off of a narrow 4-3 loss to the LaRue County Hawks (2-2) on Aug. 23, the Knights were toppled by the John Hardin Bulldogs 6-1 on Aug. 29. 

    It was their first home game of the season and the Bulldogs (4-0) led the Knights 2-0 at halftime. 

  • Volleyball: Lady Knights defeat Campbellsville

    The Marion County Lady Knights went 1-1 during their first week of play. The senior loaded team started off with a loss against the Nelson County Lady Cardinals (1-0) and a victory over the Campbellsville Lady Eagles (0-3),
