  • Third quarter dooms Knights

    The Marion County High School football team played in the 2012 Heart of Kentucky Pigskin Classic on Saturday night at John J. Boswell field. The team took on Green County, and played a very even first half with the Dragons. The score was tied at 14 at the half, but the second half would be a different story.  The Knights would be outscored 29-14 in the final two periods and lose the game by a score of 43-28.

  • Epps, Goodin-Rogers to play for UK

    After originally committing to the University of Louisville in June of 2011, Kyvin Goodin-Rogers and Makayla Epps both rescinded their commitments to the university last month. Now, both of them have made verbal commitments to the University of Kentucky.
    Epps visited the University of Kentucky Monday in hopes of helping her make a college choice. Apparently, that did the trick.
    When asked about her verbal commitment to UK, Epps answered with a rhyme.

  • Soccer squads suffer five losses in one week

    Both the Marion County High School boys and girls soccer teams each had rough weeks, and neither found wins. The Knights entered the week with a 3-0 record, but now sit at 3-3. The Lady Knights are still searching for their first win after a pair of losses last week.

  • Rough week at the net for Lady Knights

    The Marion County Lady Knights volleyball team had three matches this past week, taking on Green County, Bethlehem and Boyle County. The Lady Knights lost two out of three matches, only defeating Boyle County on the week. The team's overall record now stands at 5-3, with their district record at 2-0.

  • Local tennis player competes in Alabama

    Alex Spalding, former Marion County High School standout, competed in the nine-state USTA Southern Section Jr. Team Tennis Championship in Alabama recently. His team came very close to qualifying for the national championships. He was 4-0 in singles competition.

  • Football Knights open up with big loss

    The Marion County High School football team headed to Campbellsville University Friday evening to play in the Forcht Bank Bowl for the second straight year. After falling to Russell County 48-21 last year in the same season opening game, the Knights didn't improve any and fell to Evansville Central Bears from Indiana by a final score of 55-16. All 16 of the Knights points came in the fourth quarter when the game was well out of reach.

  • Golf teams are in action

    In recent action the golf teams have taken on Washington County, Taylor County and Campbellsville, and Adair County. The junior varsity team also competed against Adair County.  
    Marion County shot a 176 against Washington County while the Commanders shot a 185. Logan Medley led the way with a 40 followed by Evan Dye with a 43. Trevor Burchell shot a 45 and Casey Lee shot a 48.

  • Knights soccer stays unbeaten

    The Marion County High School boys soccer team has played three games on the young season, and has been able to pick up wins in all three contests. On Tuesday of last week, the team opened up regular season play against district opponent LaRue County on the road. After playing well in the first half and holding a two goal lead at the break, the Knights came out a bit sluggish in the second half and allowed LaRue County to get back in the game.

  • Lady Knights in search of first win

    The Marion County Lady Knights soccer team has played three games this season, and is still in search of their first win. The team has lost a pair of 7-4 decisions and had a tough outing in a 7-0 defeat.
    First year, Head Coach Devin Spalding knows that his team has potential, but is still in search of finding that right combination to collect a win.
    After coming off an impressive 8-1 victory in their final preseason game against Whitley County, the Lady Knights were ready to open up regular season play against Berea on Monday of last week.

  • Lady Knights improve to 4-1

    The Marion County Lady Knights volleyball team competed in three matches last week, winning all three to improve their overall record to 4-1 on the season.  The wins came over LaRue County, Taylor County and Campbellsville.

    The Lady Knights traveled to LaRue County to play their fifth game of the season Thursday night. Marion County was able to take the first two sets, and after losing the third set, battle back to win the match in the fourth set.
