  • Marion County takes second in JV tourneys

    The Marion County High School junior varsity girls basketball headed to Taylor County High School Wednesday to play in their 20th district tournament.
    After defeating Campbellsville in the opening game of the tournament, the Lady Knights fell to Adair County in a close game to take the runner-up title. Sophomores Colleen Rakes and Alexus Calhoun led the way for the junior varsity teams in each of the two games. Rakes scored 11 points in the Campbellsville game and Calhoun scored 10 points in the final against Adair County.

  • Knights fall to Bardstown

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team headed to Bardstown to take on the Tigers on Tuesday of last week. After a stellar first half where the Knights led by one point heading into the break, the defensive pressure by the Tigers stepped up and the baskets would not fall for the Knights in the second half.  Marion County would go on to lose this contest by a final score of 70-50, after hanging tough for much of three quarters. Senior John Southall led the way for the Knights with 23 points, 15 of those in the first half.

  • Knights lose in tough battle with Trojans

    The Marion County Knights took on the Trojans from North Hardin on senior night Friday night in the Roby Dome. The Knights battled all night long against the big, fast, and athletic Trojans and stayed within striking distance throughout the game. However, in the end they fell by a final score of 63-50. Senior Carlos Litsey led the way for the Knights with 13 points.

  • Lady Knights win battle of top 5 teams

    The Marion County Lady Knights traveled to John Hardin High School Saturday afternoon to take on the Boone County Lady Rebels in the Valentine’s Day Shootout. After a close game early on in which Boone County led at the end of two quarters, the Lady Knights closed the game on a 10-0 run to seal the 65-50 victory. Junior Makayla Epps led the way for Marion County with 21 points.

  • Aqua Knights win home meet

    The Marion County Aqua Knights hosted a high school swim meet Thursday at the Lebanon Aquatic Center with Bethlehem and Nelson County. It was a "Home Teams" meet since all three teams hold practice at LAC (Lebanon Aquatic Center). The Marion County girls narrowly defeated Bethlehem 46 to 43 with Nelson County girls finishing with three points. Marion County boys were also winners with 40 points, while Bethlehem boys out swam their Nelson County counterparts, 22 to 19. Points are scored for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each event.

  • Freshmen Lady Knights win district tourney

    The Marion County Lady Knights freshman won the 20th District tournament Feb. 1 at Taylor County High School.
    In their first game of the day, the Lady Knights defeated Campbellsville by a final score of 43-28. TT Adams led the way for Marion County with 14 points.
    In the championship game, Marion County edged out the Adair County Lady Indians by two points to claim the crown. Ambrasia Adams led the way for Marion County in this game with 10 points in the narrow 37-35 win.

  • Lady Knights pull out six-point victory in Elizabethtown

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity basketball team went on the road to play Elizabethtown Thursday, and after a tough battle throughout, the Lady Knights managed to come away with a hard fought six point win.
    Senior Bre Elder and junior Kyvin Goodin-Rogers led the way with 19 points each.

  • Knights defeat Taylor County Cardinals, 67-51

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team played the second game of a doubleheader Friday night against Taylor County in a game that would decide the outright winner of the 20th district. After a close game early on, the Knights pulled away and went on to win 67-51.
    After finding themselves in a tie game early in the second half, senior John Southall and sophomore Alex Smith hit three pointers on three straight trips for the Knights to put them on top by nine points. After that point, the Cardinals would never lead again.

  • Aqua Knights win

    The Marion County Aqua Knights were victorious Thursday during a home meet against Taylor County and Campbellsville high schools at the Lebanon Aquatic Center. The had a final score of 109. Taylor County was second with 30 points and Campbellsville had 15. Points were scored for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes in each event.
    "I was pleased that so many of our swimmers improved their times," said  
    Coach Eric King.
    "It was a good strong swim to prepare for regionals on Feb. 10-11," added Coach Holly Buckman.
