  • Knights struggle in Shelbyville

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team traveled to Shelbyville Jan. 24 to play Collins High School. After struggling mightily from the field, especially in the second half, the Knights fell to Collins by a wide margin. Senior John Southall was the only Marion County player in double-figures. He had a game high 21 points, with no other Knight with more than six.

  • School records fall

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity basketball team traveled to Georgetown Jan. 24 to play the Scott County Lady Cardinals. Coming off a lackluster 36-point performance in a loss to Withrow, Ohio, the Lady Knights exploded for 30 points in the opening frame on their way to a rout of Scott County by a final score of 84-47.

  • Knights crush Nelson County

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team hosted Nelson County at the Roby Dome Thursday night. After coming off a 30-point loss to the hands of Collins just two days earlier, the Knights were looking to bounce back. The first quarter did not start the way Marion County wanted it to as they found themselves in a 10-point hole. However, from the start of the second quarter on, the Knights were in complete control and went on to win by final score of 82-54.

  • Lady Knights runner-up in LIT

    The Marion County Lady Knights traveled to Bellarmine University this past weekend to compete in the L.I.T., taking on Christian Academy in their first game of the tournament. Marion County was able to get going early and went on to easily defeat the Lady Centurions by a final score of 69-54 to advance to the semi-finals. The Lady Knights were led by junior Makayla Epps who scored a game high 23 points.

  • Lady Knights suffer third defeat

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity basketball team traveled to Mercy Academy in Louisville Saturday night to play Withrow, Ohio, in the Raatz Fence Classic.  After struggling shooting the ball all game long, the Lady Knights were handed their third loss of the season. As a team the Lady Knights shot 12 of 59 (20.3 percent) from the field, and lost 42-36 in a low scoring affair.

  • Knights earn victory over Taylor County

    In a hard-fought, physical game, the Marion County Knights basketball team held off the visiting Taylor County Cardinals Friday night for a 59-51 victory. With the win, the Knights remain in contention for the top seed in the district. Marion County must win against the Cardinals when they meet in Campbellsville on Feb. 3 to take the No. 1 district seed outright.
    The Knights found themselves in a 14-9 hole after one quarter. Three Marion County players scored in the opening eight minutes, led by senior Carlos Litsey and sophomore Clay Lanham with four points each.

  • Lady Knights crush Lady Cardinals

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity basketball team hosted the Taylor County Lady Cardinals at the Roby Dome Friday night. The Lady Knights took control of the game early, going on a 14-0 run to start the game, and cruised to a 72-25 win.
    Marion County's defensive pressure limited Taylor County to just five points in the opening quarter. Junior Makayla Epps led the charge for Marion County with 10 of her game-high 18 points in the opening frame.

  • Aqua Knights compete against 19 teams at Somerset

    The Marion County Aqua Knights swim team traveled to Somerset recently, and 19 teams competed. Numerous Marion County swimmers participated in various events. "We don't have a large number of swimmers, but for a small team they did well in the events they participated in," Coach Holly Buckman said.
    The Aqua Knights will be back in action on Jan. 28, when they travel to Shelbyville to take part in a meet.

  • Knights hang on to defeat Bruins

    In the nightcap game of the Autism Awareness Classic held Saturday at Marion County High School, the Marion County Knights played Central Hardin. The Knights led most of the way, but allowed the Bruins to creep back into the game near the end. Marion County was able to hang on and take the 71-65 victory.

  • Knights handle Eagles

    In their second match-up of the season, the Marion County Knights defeated the Campbellsville Eagles Friday by a final score of 67-34. All but two Knight players broke into the scoring column in the rout led by sophomore Clay Lanham with 10 points. With the win, the Knights move into a tie with Taylor County for the top spot in the district. The Knights have yet to tangle with the Cardinals this season, and have one more game against Adair County in Columbia.
