  • JV/freshman teams pick up wins

    The Marion County Knights junior varsity team hosted Bethlehem at the Roby Dome Thursday evening. The Knights used a big fourth quarter in which they scored 20 points, to claim the victory over Bethlehem, with a final score of 48-42. Clay Lanham led the way for Marion County with 15 points.

  • Knights win season opener against Mercer County

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team hosted Mercer County at the Roby Dome On Tuesday of last week. Playing without senior Carlos Litsey, the Knights struggled on the boards and committed 27 team fouls. However, Marion County was able to pick up the win in front of the home crowd to start the season 1-0 with sophomore Clay Lanham coming off the bench to score 20 points, leading the way for the Knights. John Southall just missed having a double-double by collecting eleven assists and eight points.

  • Knights hang on to defeat Cardinals

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team went on the road Friday night to play the Nelson County Cardinals in their second game of the season.  Sophomore Alex Smith was able to come off of the bench and lead the Knights to a second straight victory, taking their record to 2-0. A Knights team hasn't gone 2-0 since the 2009-10 season, and only four times since the 2000-01 season.

  • Lady Knights win season opener

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity basketball team hosted Casey County at the Roby Dome in their season opener Monday of last week. Marion County jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, defeating Casey County by a final score of 69-49.

    After shooting nearly 50 percent for the game and nailing 10 three pointers, the Lady Knights cruised to a 20 point victory. Under Head Coach Trent Milby, the Lady Knights have won their season opener every year except one, 2006-07, Coach Milby's first year.

  • Nike Tournament of Champions

         The preliminary bracket has been released for the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz. Currently, the Lady Knights are set to face a team from Washington, D.C. on Monday, Dec. 19, but the bracket has not been finalized.  Several factors were used in determining pairings, including each team's relative strength, experience, past performance, school size, and geography.  The final bracket is set to be released on Friday, Dec. 9.

  • Lady Knights defeat Nelson County

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity basketball team traveled to Bardstown to take on the Nelson County Lady Cardinals Friday night. After a dismal first half, only scoring 24 points, the Lady Knights picked it up in the second half to come away with a 66-53 victory, taking their record to 2-0.

  • Times changed for Marion County-Adair County basketball games

    Marion County will host Adair County in high school basketball double-header Tuesday, Dec. 6.

    However, the original order of the games has been changed.

    The boys will play at 6:30 p.m., followed by the girls game around 8 p.m.

  • Knights receive awards

    The Marion County Knights soccer team held their annual awards banquet on Monday of last week, with numerous players taking home honors due to their performances both on and off the field for the 2011 season.
    John Southall won the Best Offensive Award, while Alex Smith took home the Best Defensive Award. Satchel Tatum received the Coaches Award, while Jared Wheatley and Jordan Mattingly won the 110 percent Award. The Team Scholars Award went to Michael and Joey Costello, and Noah Swencki received the All-Conference Award.

  • Players honored at banquet

    The Marion County Lady Knights volleyball team held their annual awards banquet at Marion County High School Tuesday of last week. Several players earned awards for their efforts and performances throughout the 2011 season.
    Statistical awards were first given out at the awards banquet, starting with Most Aces in a Season. Shakyra Young won this award with 86 on the season.
