  • Knights falter late in 41-18 loss

    The Marion County High School football team took on the Lexington Catholic Knights at John J. Boswell field Friday. Lexington Catholic entered the game as a top three ranked team in the state of Kentucky. During the first half, Marion County played exceptionally well and hung in there with Lexington Catholic.  However, in the second half Knights of Lexington Catholic would show why they are so highly ranked and began to pull away from Marion County.

  • Season ends with disappointment for team

    The Marion County Lady Knights volleyball team traveled to Nelson County High School Tuesday of last week to compete in the regional tournament after winning the district crown for the fourth consecutive year.

  • Hibbard named Coach of the Year

    David Hibbard, head coach of the Marion County Lady Knights volleyball team, has been named the 5th Region Volleyball Coach of the Year, joining Beth Cecil of Bethlehem High School as the 5th Region Player of the Year. Recognitions were voted on by Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association member coaches. The 2011 team recently finished the season with an overall record of 24-11, winning the district title and falling in the opening round of the regional tournament.

  • Farewell to Coach David Ferriell

    Coach David Ferriell, 64, has been actively involved in some type of coaching in the Marion County school system for more than four decades. Recently, he decided to hang up his whistle as the girls coach at Saint Charles Middle School. But, he will continue to coach the boys team at Saint Charles Middle School.

  • Big Blue comes out on top

    The Big Blue All-Stars came to Lebanon Thursday to take on the St. Catharine College Patriots in the Roby Dome. The game was as exciting as advertised, and played out in front of a capacity crowd. At the half, the Big Blue team led 60-41, and went on to win by a final score of 126-116.

  • Connect Four

    The Marion County Lady Knights volleyball team captured the district crown Wednesday night at the Roby Dome. The Lady Knights won the title for the fourth consecutive year, beating Campbellsville in the first round of the district tournament on Tuesday night and defeating Taylor County in the finals. This win takes Marion County's overall record to 24-10, with their district standings at 10-0.

  • Knights fall to Danville in overtime in district

    The Marion County Knights soccer team traveled to Danville Tuesday of last week to play Danville in the second round of the district tournament, after defeating Garrard County 9-0 the night before in the opening round.

  • Boyle County eliminates Lady Knights from district

    The Marion County Lady Knights soccer team played Boyle County, the host of the district tournament, in the second round Oct. 11. They couldn't get on the scoreboard, losing the game 10-0 due to the mercy rule. They reached the second round after beating Garrard County, 2-0, on Oct. 10.  

    In the Boyle County game, the Lady Knights were outmatched.

  • Rebels outrun Knights

    The Marion County Knights football team traveled to Danville Friday night to play Boyle County. The Knights couldn't get it going, only scoring 14 points in the game, one offensive touchdown and one on the defensive side. This loss takes Marion County's overall record to 3-5 and 1-2 in district play, with two regular season games remaining.

  • Cross Country competes in three meets

    The Marion County Cross Country team competed Oct. 11 at Mercer County, Oct. 13 at Green County, and in the Fox and the Hound Race at the Forkland Festival Saturday.

    At Mercer County,  Madison Avritt took first place, Morgan Avritt took second place, and Mary Helen Hamilton finished fourth. The girls did not qualifty as a team.
