  • Knights get shut out in Anderson, Meade

    Last week the Marion County High School boys soccer team played Anderson and Meade counties, both on the road. The Knights were held scoreless in back-to-back games for the first time of the season during these two outings. Anderson County was able to defeat the Knights on Tuesday by a final score of 3-0, and Meade County blanked the Knights on Thursday, 2-0.
    Head Coach Greg Conley said that this was a tough stretch of the season.

  • Knights compete in Mercer County

    The Marion County Cross Country team traveled to Mercer County on Tuesday, Sept. 20, to participate in their third meet of the season.
    In the girls meet, the Lady Knights competed against 10 schools with a combined 39 runners and placed fourth as a team. Individually, Morgan Avritt finished eighth, Hope Riggs placed 13th, Madison Avritt finished 16th, Courtney Hutchins placed 25th, and Emily Clark finished 34th.

  • Freshman, junior varsity players show promise

    With the Marion County High School varsity football team having the week off, the freshman and junior varsity teams each played games at home. Monday of last week, the junior varsity team hosted Campbellsville and came out with a whopping 54-14 victory. Also the freshman team hosted Green County on Thursday, and was just edged out in a 41-37 loss.

  • Cross Country begins new season

    This year’s Marion County Cross Country team consists of 30 runners from grades four through 12.
    The high school team has the most runners they’ve had in many years with 19 runners making up both a boys and girls team. Coach Sherbie King said he was quite pleased with the results of the team’s first meet.

  • Volleyball girls claim four victories

    The Marion County Lady Knights volleyball team had an overall good week, winning four matches and dropping two. Marion County was able to defeat Campbellsville on the road Thursday, and during the Pulaski County Invitational this past weekend, the team was able to win three matches while losing two. Overall, the Lady Knights' record stands at 19-6, with their district standings now at 8-0.  The Lady Knights also picked up the program's 200th victory this past week.

  • Soccer girls have rough week of play

    The Marion County High School girls soccer team participated in four games this week, and struggled to defeats in all four. Monday of last week the team hosted Garrard County and was defeated in a shootout after the game was tied at zero after regulation. Two days later the Lady Knights took on Mercer County and was defeated by a final score of 8-0. On Thursday, the team traveled to Danville and was defeated 10-0. In the final game of the week, the Lady Knights were defeated by Montgomery County on Saturday by a final score of 5-0.

  • Regionals begin next week

    On Tuesday, Sept. 27, the Marion County High School boys and girls golf teams will be traveling to compete in the regional tournament. This year’s boys tournament will be played at Danville Country Club while the girls tournament will be at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Shepherdsville. The boys team competes in region four while the girls team is part of the third region.

  • Soccer Knights split two games

    The Marion County High School boys soccer team played a pair of games this week, and split those two decisions. Thursday, the Knights took on Danville on the road and came away with a hard fought 3-1 loss. On Saturday, the team took on Western Hills at home and collected a 2-1 victory. This week’s action puts the team’s record to 10-3-1. The home win against Western Hills also keeps the Knights undefeated at home on the season.
