  • Mercer County topples Lady Knights

    The Marion County High School Lady Knights soccer team struggled against Mercer County last week and fell 8-0, and was narrowly defeated 1-0 by North Hardin.
    On Monday of last week, the Lady Knights hosted Mercer County. The Lady Titans are ranked in the state rankings and showed why.
    "They attacked early and often," Coach Devin Johnson said. "In the end, they were really just too much for us to handle."  
    Mercer County was able to score four goals in the first half on what Johnson called "mental mistakes on our part."

  • MCHS has new athletic trainer

    Josh Bohn, 23, of Pemberville, Ohio, is Marion County High School's newest athletic trainer. His first day on the job was Monday of last week.
    Bohn is a graduate of Bowling Green State University in Ohio. He's a certified athletic trainer, and this is his first position.
    Bohn has had experience in this line of work while in college on a supervised trial basis. Bohn works through KORT physical therapy, and has recently moved to Lebanon.

  • Third place finish for junior varsity Lady Knights

    The Marion County Lady Knights junior varsity team competed in a tournament Saturday, where they finished third in the silver division. The tourney consisted of pool play games, followed by tournament play.
    In pool play, the Lady Knights split with Bullitt East in the first match, 18-21 and 21-16. Marion County then defeated Grayson County 21-6 and 21-14. The Lady Knights split with North Bullitt 15-21 and 22-20. Marion County then fell to Bethlehem, 13-21 and 7-21.

  • Football Knights fall to Southwestern Warriors

    The Marion County High School football team headed to Somerset to take on Southwestern Friday. After a hard fought, close game throughout, the Knights were defeated by a touchdown pass by the Warriors with less than a minute remaining.
    "The kids played hard with a great effort throughout the whole game," Head Coach Jeff Robbins said. "The intensity was much better throughout and it was our best defensive effort of the year."  

  • Knights golf has good week

    The Marion County High School golf team played two matches last week. One match was against Mercer County and the other match was against Nelson County and Green County.
    In the match against Mercer County the Knights came out on top 180 to 199.  Individual scores for the Knights were Logan Medley and Mason Gadberry each with a 44, Evan Dye with a 45, and Casey Lee with a 47.
    "It wasn't pretty golf on either side," Head Coach Chad Spalding said. "Mason had a good round, just had one bad hole."

  • Soccer Knights split four games

    The Marion County High School boys soccer team played four games last week and managed to split those four contests. The first win came against Campbellsville Wednesday before the team headed to Nelson County to take part in the Nelson County Invitational. The team dropped their first two games in the Invitational; one to Nelson County and one to Kentucky Country Day. The Knights finished off the Invitational with a win over Rowan County.

  • Lady Knights fall to top 15 soccer team

    The Marion County High School Lady Knights soccer team traveled to Boyle County to take on the Lady Rebels Tuesday of last week. Boyle County is ranked in the top 15 in the state according to Head Coach Devin Johnson, and it showed in the game. The Lady Knights fell in the game 10-0.
    "The score was definitely not as bad as it may appear," Head Coach Devin Johnson said. "We entered the game with a very defensive mindset, just trying to keep them out of our goal. And for the first 35 minutes we did a tremendous job of doing just that."

  • Lady Knights clinch No. 1 volleyball seed

    The Marion County Lady Knights volleyball team competed in the Abraham Slam Jam Tournament in LaRue County Saturday, and played district matches against Adair County and Taylor County throughout last week. Marion County won four out of five matches in the tourney, with their overall record now standing at 20-4. The Lady Knights were able to win the two district games against Adair County and Taylor County, taking their district record to 6-0, and giving them the No. 1 seed in the district tournament.

  • Knights can't keep up with Cardinals

    The Marion County Knights hosted the Nelson County Cardinals Friday night in a football game that pitted two winless teams against each other. The Knights were within striking distance early, but a historic night by the Cardinal quarterback would not allow them to be beat. The Knights fell in the game by a final score of 59-38.

  • Golf teams split matches

    The Marion County Knights golf team competed in two matches this past week, playing against Adair County on the road on Tuesday of last week and taking on Bardstown at Rosewood Golf Club Thursday.
    Thursday against Bardstown, Marion County won the match 177 to 196. Individual team scores for the Knights were Logan Medley with a 41, Mason Gadberry with a 43, Trevor Burchell with a 46 and Casey Lee with a 47. Brianna Reynolds also played against Bardstown, winning her match by shooting a 48.
