High School Sports

The Marion County High School girls soccer team participated in four games this week, and struggled to defeats in all four. Monday of last week the team hosted Garrard County and was defeated in a shootout after the game was tied at zero after regulation. Two days later the Lady Knights took on Mercer County and was defeated by a final score of 8-0. On Thursday, the team traveled to Danville and was defeated 10-0. In the final game of the week, the Lady Knights were defeated by Montgomery County on Saturday by a final score of 5-0.

The Marion County High School boys soccer team played a pair of games this week, and split those two decisions. Thursday, the Knights took on Danville on the road and came away with a hard fought 3-1 loss. On Saturday, the team took on Western Hills at home and collected a 2-1 victory. This week’s action puts the team’s record to 10-3-1. The home win against Western Hills also keeps the Knights undefeated at home on the season.

The Marion County High School girls soccer team had a much-needed slow week and played only one game. Tuesday of last week, the Lady Knights traveled to Lincoln County to take part in a rain soaked game. The two teams played the entire first half, and shortly into the second half the game was called because of deteriorating weather conditions.  By this time Marion County was trailing 5-0, and the game was considered an official game.

The Marion County Lady Knights volleyball team played two district matches on the road last week, traveling to Taylor County on Tuesday of last week and Adair County Thursday, with the Lady Knights winning both matches to take their district record to 7-0. The Lady Knights also participated in the LaRue County Invitational Saturday, making it to the semifinals of the tournament before falling to Nelson County. Marion County’s overall record now stands at 15-4 on the season.
