  • District crown is in Lady Knights’ sight

    Losing only one player to graduation after compiling a 22-13 record, the Marion County Lady Knights softball team has high expectations for the 2011 season.  After winning the 20th district title last year, the Lady Knights beat Washington County 10-0 in the first round of the regional softball tournament before losing to Green County 2-1 in the second round of region.
    Head Coach Trent Milby hopes that this year’s squad will win the district crown for the second year in a row, and take their chances in the 5th region tournament once again.

  • Young boys plan to compete

    With a new coach at the helm, the Marion County Knights tennis team has a positive outlook about the upcoming season. Because the team lost several strong players from last year, Head Coach Chase Burdette says this is a building year.  “Team positions aren’t very solid yet, which is to be expected with a young team,” Burdette said.

  • Girls look for new seedings

    The Marion County Lady Knights tennis team won’t have their top singles players from last year, as Kameron Simmons and Leanna Begley were lost to graduation.  For this year’s team, Head Coach Angela Holt says she is still in the process of determining the seedings.

  • Knights defeated in semi-finals

    The Marion County Knights varsity boys basketball team traveled to Green County High School March 7 to take on the Bardstown Tigers in the semi-final game of the regional tournament, looking to upset their opponent and move on to the 5th Region championship game. The Knights stayed within striking distance for three quarters, but a 23-6 outburst by the Tigers in the fourth quarter put an end to Marion County’s season.

    Marion County started strong, fell behind, but fought back to regain the lead and had multiple chances to send the game to overtime, but in the end, Manual survived in the Saturday morning semifinal match-up in the Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen.

  • Marion County falls in state semifinals

    Marion County started strong, fell behind, fought back to regain the lead and had multiple chances to send the game to overtime, but in the end, Manual survived in the Saturday morning semifinal match-up in the Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls Sweet Sixteen.

    Manual won by a final score of 56-54.

    The Lady Knights jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead only three minutes into the game forcing Manual to burn an early timeout.  Currently Marion County leads 7-4 with 4:10 left in the 1st quarter.

  • Lady Knights claim 5th Region Crown

    For the third consecutive year, the Marion County Lady Knights and the Elizabethtown Lady Panthers squared off for the 5th region girls basketball championship and the bid to participate in the Houchens Industries KHSAA Sweet 16 basketball tournament in Bowling Green. In 2009, the Lady Panthers would get the best of the Lady Knights 51-46 in a game played at Nelson County on March 7, 2009.

  • Girls compete in Sweet 16

    Tonight, the Lady Knights will play in the final game of opening day action in the Houchens Industries KHSAA Sweet 16 girls basketball state tournament in Bowling Green at E.A. Diddle Arena. Marion County is set to tip off against the Montgomery County Lady Indians from Mt. Sterling at 9 p.m. eastern time.

  • MCHS Knights’ upset bid ends

    Monday night the Marion County Knights varsity boys’ basketball team took on the Bardstown Tigers in the semi-finals of the 5th region tournament at Green County High School.
    The Knights stayed within striking distance for three quarters, but a 23-6 outburst by the Tigers in the fourth quarter put an end to Marion County’s season.  
    Bardstown defeated the Knights by a final score of 59-31. Senior Josh Brockman led the way for the Knights with 15 points while junior Carlos Litsey added eight points of his own.

  • Lady Knights named to Fifth-Region All-Tournament Team

    After the dust settled on the Fifth Region tournament, several Lady Knights were named to the Fifth Region All-Tournament team.  
    Sophomore Kyvin Goodin-Rogers took home Most Outstanding Player honors, averaging 14 points per game during the three game stretch.
    Junior Bre Elder and sophomores Makayla Epps and Patrice Tonge were named to the Fifth Region All-Tournament team.
