  • Knights fall to Danville in overtime in district

    The Marion County Knights soccer team traveled to Danville Tuesday of last week to play Danville in the second round of the district tournament, after defeating Garrard County 9-0 the night before in the opening round.

  • Boyle County eliminates Lady Knights from district

    The Marion County Lady Knights soccer team played Boyle County, the host of the district tournament, in the second round Oct. 11. They couldn't get on the scoreboard, losing the game 10-0 due to the mercy rule. They reached the second round after beating Garrard County, 2-0, on Oct. 10.  

    In the Boyle County game, the Lady Knights were outmatched.

  • Rebels outrun Knights

    The Marion County Knights football team traveled to Danville Friday night to play Boyle County. The Knights couldn't get it going, only scoring 14 points in the game, one offensive touchdown and one on the defensive side. This loss takes Marion County's overall record to 3-5 and 1-2 in district play, with two regular season games remaining.

  • Cross Country competes in three meets

    The Marion County Cross Country team competed Oct. 11 at Mercer County, Oct. 13 at Green County, and in the Fox and the Hound Race at the Forkland Festival Saturday.

    At Mercer County,  Madison Avritt took first place, Morgan Avritt took second place, and Mary Helen Hamilton finished fourth. The girls did not qualifty as a team.

  • Knights head into postseason play

    The Marion County Knights boys soccer team played in two games last week, taking on Bethlehem Tuesday at home and hosting Berea Saturday on Senior Day. The Knights lost to Bethlehem 0-2 and tied with Berea 1-1.
    After trailing late in the game against Berea, John Southall punched in a goal to tie the game at one with 10 minutes remaining. Neither team could score at the end of the game, and the game would end in a 1-1 tie. 

  • Lady Knights wrap up regular season

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity soccer team wrapped up their regular season last week, playing Bardstown at home on Monday of last week and taking on Somerset on the road Thursday. The Lady Knights lost the Bardstown game 6-1, and tied 1-1 in the game against Somerset.
    Marion County was scheduled to play Garrard County in the first round of the district tournament on Monday night at Boyle County, but results were unknown at press time.  

  • Volleyball team finishes regular season 22-10

    The Marion County Lady Knights volleyball team competed in three matches last week, playing Central Hardin at home on Monday of last week, Bardstown on the road on Tuesday of last week, and Pulaski County on the road Thursday. The Lady Knights fell to Central Hardin in two sets, but defeated Bardstown and Pulaski County in three sets, taking their overall record to 22-10, with their district standings remaining at 8-0.  

  • Lady Knights bow out of tourney after one day

    The Marion County Lady Knights golf team traveled to Bowling Green Country Club Friday to compete in the 2011 state tournament. After a hard fought round of golf on a very difficult course, none of the four Lady Knights advanced past the first day of play. Amy Brown only missed the cut by one stroke, but had a difficult first hole.
    “After having most likely one of the worst first holes in a tournament, Amy finished with one of the best final 17,” Head Coach Chad Spalding said.

  • Knights get banged up in loss at Mercer County; play Rebels Friday

    The Marion County Knights varsity football team traveled to Harrodsburg Friday to play the Mercer County Titans on their homecoming night. After a game full of penalties and injuries, the Knights fell to Mercer County 34-13, taking their overall record to 3-4 on the season and 1-1 in district play.
