  • Leathers recognized for service

    Longtime coach Freddie Leathers was recognized for his 26 years of coaching service at Marion County High School Friday night during halftime of the boys basketball game.
    Leathers served as the assistant girls basketball coach for 10 seasons under Coach Beverly Sis Roby, head girls basketball coach for 11 seasons after Roby retired, and boys and girls golf coach.

  • Knights lose big to John Hardin at home

    The Marion County Knights varsity boys basketball team hosted the John Hardin Bulldogs on Tuesday of last week at the Roby Dome. The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as John Hardin defeated Marion County by a final score of 75-52. Freshman Alex Smith scored a game high 22 points. Smith’s 22-point outburst marked the first time that a freshman Knight had scored 20 or more points since March 8, 2005, when Mitchell Lancaster scored 20 points against John Hardin in a regional tournament game.

  • Girls JV district games have been cancelled

    The girls junior varsity basketball games that had been scheduled for tonight, Feb. 16, have been cancelled.

  • Lady Knights handle Lady Trojans easily

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity girls basketball team went on the road Friday night to play the North Hardin Lady Trojans. After an average first quarter, the Lady Knights began to pull away from the Lady Trojans. Marion County led at the half with a score of 34-20 and went on to win the game and improve their record to 18-6 with a final score of 64-43. Junior Bre Elder led the way with a game high 23 points for the Lady Knights.

  • Trojans’ size overpowers Knights

    The Marion County Knights varsity boys basketball team traveled to Radcliff to take on the North Hardin Trojans Friday night. The Trojans were a much bigger team than the Knights and that showed, especially in the second half. The Knights were outmatched by the Trojans and were only able to score half as many points in the second half as the home team. North Hardin handed Marion County its second consecutive loss by a final score of 53-35.

  • District tourney to begin

    Tonight the JV Lady Knights will face the Campbellsville Eagles in the 20th district JV girls tournament. This tournament was scheduled to be played last Wednesday, but due to inclement weather and poor road conditions, it was forced to be rescheduled. The championship game is set to tip-off at 8 p.m. All games in the tournament will be played at Marion County High School.
    On Friday night, the Knights will be at the Roby Dome to face the LaRue County Hawks in JV/Varsity action.

  • JV Girls District Tournament rescheduled

    The Lady Knights JV district tournament that was originally scheduled for last Wednesday evening was postponed due to inclement weather and poor road conditions. The tournament will be played tonight beginning at 5 p.m.
    The JV Lady Knights will take the court at approximately 6:30 p.m. against the Campbellsville Eagles. The championship game will be played immediately following the JV Lady Knights game and is set to tip-off around 8 p.m.

  • Girls top Ohio team

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity girls basketball team traveled to Centerville, Ohio to participate in the 3rd annual Kentucky/Ohio challenge Saturday.

    They took on the Chaminade Julienne Lady Eagles, a team from Dayton, Ohio, that is ranked 35th in the state. The Lady Knights led at the half by a score of 22-17. Marion County went on to defeat Chaminade Julienne by a final score of 45-42 giving them their 19th win against only six losses. Head Coach Trent Milby said that this was a good, tough win on the road.
