  • Knights defeat Campbellsville 57-47 in district game

    Friday, the Marion County varsity boys’ basketball team battled Campbellsville at the Roby Dome. From the opening tip, the two teams fought for the lead until midway through the fourth quarter when the Knights began to pull away. Marion County made 21 of 39 shots from inside the arc in the game for an impressive shooting percentage of 54 percent. The locals stretched the lead to 12 points late in the fourth period and went on to win the game by 10 points, with a final score of 57-47.

  • Lady Knights face tough competition in Ohio

    The Marion County girls’ basketball teams will travel to Pickerington, Ohio to play in the Key Bank Holiday Cage Classic beginning Dec. 28 and wrapping up on Dec. 30. The Lady Knights will face some tough competition throughout this classic. There are eight teams in the field, and nearly all of them are ranked very high in their respective states/divisions.  

  • Knights surprise Commanders

    On Friday night at the Roby Dome, the Marion County Knights varsity boys’ basketball team picked up their first win of the season, defeating the border rivals of Washington County by a score of 52-30.
    In Head Coach Anthony Epps’ first game, the Knights came out on fire and never looked back. Senior guard Josh Brockman paved the way for the Knight victory with a 29-point explosion.  

  • Holiday tournament time

    The Marion County Knights will hit the road to face Casey County tomorrow night in Liberty at 8 p.m. The Knights split their two decisions with the Rebels last year, coming away with a home victory on Dec. 18 and a road loss on Dec. 23.  Both games were decided by less than five points. 
    The following night the boys will be back at home to host Campbellsville at 7:30. Last season, Campbellsville ended the Knights brief postseason appearance with a 75-59 decision.

  • Lady Knights join 1,000 Point Club

    Just before tip-off of the Marion County Lady Knights varsity basketball game against Washington County Friday night at the Roby Dome, Head Coach Trent Milby presented game balls to junior Bre Elder and sophomore Kyvin Goodin-Rogers.
    The two received this honor for scoring 1,000 points in their career at Marion County High School.
    Elder’s 1,000th point came on Feb. 26, 2010, during the Adair County game.
    On March 6, 2010, Goodin-Rogers accomplished the same feat during the game against E’town.

  • Girls overpower Commanderettes

    Washington County was no match for the Marion County Lady Knights varsity girls’ basketball team Friday night at the Roby Dome. Turnovers, combined with a poor shooting percentage by the Commanderettes, allowed the locals to defeat them by a final score of 74-38 in their second win of the season.  

  • Girls have busy week scheduled

    Last night, the local basketball teams headed to Columbia to face the Adair County Indians. Results for these games were unknown as of press time.
    Last season the Lady Knights defeated the Lady Indians three times, most recently in the finals of the district with a 78-37 win. The boys split their meetings with the Indians last year, winning by six points on Dec. 8 and losing by 13 points on Jan. 19.

  • Three Knights play in East-West All-Star game

    On Sunday, Dec. 5, three Marion County football players participated in the Greater Louisville Football Coaches Association All-Star Game.
    The game was played at Southern High School in Louisville, with the East team defeating the West team 14-7. Marion County’s Christian Peterson, Clayton Smith, and Dylan Caldwell were members of the West team.

  • Lady Knights play at Rupp Arena Saturday

    The Marion County High School girls basketball team will be participating in the Racing To The Rim Basketball Showcase in Lexington this weekend.
    The Lady Knights are scheduled to play Scott County at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at Rupp Arena.
    The showcase begins Friday, Dec. 10. Games on Friday and Saturday will be played at the Scott County High School gymnasium.
