  • Deer - Robertson

Tammy Robertson of Lebanon shot this 10-point buck with a Remington .243 in Green County on private land. It weighed 200 pounds.

  • Deer-Brady

Chris Brady of Lebanon took this 10 point buck on Sunday, Nov. 11, in Marion County during opening weekend of the 2012 Modern Gun Deer Season.

  • Safety harnesses are not just for wimps

Well, our 2012 big gun season is over in Zone 3. But, you can hunt Zone 2 until Nov. 25. So if you have friends in Zone 2, it's time to go visit!
My sons have a lease in Adair/Green counties that's half in each county. The gravel lane that dissects their lease is part of the actual county line.
So, for the next week they can't hunt four of their stands...in Adair County! But they can hunt their Green county stands!

  • Deer hunting envy

The first weekend is gone as I write this. Saturday morning we were greeted by what would normally be unseasonably warm weather. Then, Sunday gave us a pretty windy day.
To the best of my knowledge that would be excuse No. 14 for Saturday and No. 20-something for Sunday!
So that was my 10 to 12 hours each day in a tree stand. Unfortunately, that was the story from the majority of my friends.

  • Deer - Mattingly

Trevor Mattingly, son of Lisa Mattingly, took his first deer during youth season while hunting with his grandfather, Keith Brock.

  • Deer season is a good time to get out of a 'rut'

It's finally here! This Saturday, Nov. 10, thru Nov. 19 we can hunt with any center fire weapon.
Course that's us?Marion County?in Zone 3. You can hunt till the 24th in Zones 1 and 2 so get a "Kentucky Hunting & Trapping Guide" to find those counties in 1 and 2!
Those of you lucky enough to have spent a substantial amount of time in the woods know we're in the middle of a rut right now.

  • KCCR race winner

Jeremy Morris competed in the KCCR racing event held in Lebanon recently. He won the "First Year" category.

  • KCCR racing returns to Marion County

  • Turkey hunting, bass fishing and trick-or-treating

Right now until Nov. 2 and Dec. 1-7, you can hunt turkeys with your shotgun. Now hunting turkeys during this fall season is a different story from the spring season.
In the spring we use locator calls then take advantage of the turkeys desire to reproduce. We make seductive calls to bring the Tom's to us for a shot.
However, in the fall the birds aren't interested in making little turkeys so we have to use a different tactic.
