I spent an entire week at 4-H camp with some of Marion County's finest youth. Of course the Adair, Green and Clinton County kids, teens and adults were awesome, too!
If you have kids and want to expose them to good, wholesome fun and a learning experience, then you can't go wrong by getting them involved in 4-H.
There's fishing, my venue, which meets the third Tuesday of every month. Want to shoot archery, shotguns, muzzleloaders and rifles the correct and safe way?

Woodlawn Baptist Church held its second annual bass tournament on Saturday, May 26 at Fagan Branch. There were a total of 13 boats and 24 people fishing. The winners of this year's event were, first place, with total fish weight of 3.50 pounds, John Wright (left) and Josh Fowlers. Second and third place, which tied with total fish weight each of 3.27 pounds, were Stacy Benningfield and Joe Hickey and the boat team of Harold and Edward Orberson. The big bass winner was John Wright with a single fish weighing 1.92 pounds.

Well, it finally happened! After several bass tournaments where we didn't do so good, the team of Grundy and Young came through.
It started early and never did let up. At first light a booya buzz bait paid excellent dividends. Even though John hates the rhythmic clack of the buzz bait the bass loved it and we were well on the way to an impressive limit. The bass loved it and we were well on the way to an impressive limit. Yep, 20 minutes and we...or rather I...had two bass at an estimated eight pounds.

Patrick Alvey, pictured with his son Cody, bagged this 18-pound turkey on April 28, 2012 in Marion County. The turkey had a 9.5-inch beard and one-inch spurs.
