  • Telling a story

Stories are everywhere in sports. There are stories about games, about coaches, fans and players. There are stories that bring joy and stories that bring heartache. Some stories transcend sports itself, bringing light to the human condition. Some stories captivate us with stellar achievements. Some stores are remembered well after they’ve happened due to their significance.

  • GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lady Knights...

The Marion County Lady Knights are hoping their late season momentum will carry over into the postseason.
Despite a 79-55 loss to Boyle County Friday, which ended the Lady Knights’ six-game win streak, the Lady Knights’ record stood at 14-10 and the team has gone 8-2 since a mid-season losing streak.

  • Kentucky Strong

Boys and girls basketball teams for Marion County and Washington County joined together for a moment of silence on Feb. 6 to honor victims of the school shooting at Marshall County High School on Jan. 23. The teams also wore shirts that said “Marshall Strong” during pregame warmups.

  • BASKETBALL: 1993 State...

Marion County High School’s 1992-93 boys basketball state championship team will be honored on March 17 during the state tournament semifinals.
Marion County Athletic Director Michael Holt is asking for any member of that team who will be able to attend the game to reserve a spot by emailing him at michael.holt@marion.kyschools.us.
One ticket will be provided for each team member and one will be provided for a guest. Any questions should also be directed to Holt at that email. Reservations are due by March 5.

  • BOYS BASKETBALL: Matchups...

It looks like Mother Nature will cooperate this time and Marion County will finally square off with the Bethlehem Eagles on Saturday in Bardstown, with the game tipping off at 7:30 p.m.
The Knights and Eagles had originally been scheduled to meet on Jan. 20, but poor weather forced the game to be postponed for a later date. Bethlehem is 8-13 this season, suffering a heartbreaking 54-52 loss to Green County on Saturday.
