  • BASEBALL: Knights clinch...

    REGION TOURNEY UPDATE: The Knights defeated the Hart County Raiders, 14-4, to advance to the semifinals in the regional tournament. Marion County played Bardstown Tigers Tuesday, May 30.

    Marion County made history against the LaRue County Hawks, notching a 20-win season for the first time since 2002. The Knights made more history against the Campbellsville Eagles, adding some illustrious hardware to the trophy case and doing something a Knights squad hadn't accomplished since 1988. 

  • Changing times

    The National Football League announced on May 23 that it was relaxing rules concerning touchdown celebrations among other rules changes. 
    The NFL, sometimes mockingly called the No Fun League for what many see as overbearing and restrictive celebration rules, will now allow players to use the football as a prop, celebrate on the ground and group celebrations. In a statement, the league said it was relaxing the rules on celebrations "to allow players more room to have fun after they make big plays."

    Jarred Vanderbilt will be reporting to Kentucky June 6 as scheduled and apparently is fine after injuring his lower right leg/ankle late in the Jordan Brand Classic in April.
    “Everything is going well,” said Robert Vanderbilt, Jarred’s father. “He’s feeling good, looking good. He just can’t wait until he gets his opportunity at Kentucky.”
    Robert Vanderbilt said his son was told to stay off the leg after the injury and has been doing exactly that.

  • SOFTBALL: Lady Knights repeat as...

    REGION TOURNEY UPDATE: The Lady Knights defeated the North Hardin Trojans Monday, 5-0, to advance to the semifinals in the Fifth regional tournament. Marion County played Hart County last night.

    Haley Mattingly was pitching lights out. 
    She had to, with her offense unable to find many runs. Then Abby Scott put a single into centerfield and later slid into home plate in the bottom of the fourth when Kelly Overstreet hit an RBI double with two outs.

  • BASEBALL: Marion County closes...

    The Knights are riding into the postseason with momentum. 
    Kelly Mattingly and Cody Browning each went 2-3 at the plate while Travis Wiser gave up only three hits and two unearned runs in five innings on the mound, leading Marion County to a 6-2 win against the Boyle County Rebels to wrap up the regular season last week.
    "It was a great way to finish the season and get momentum going into the playoffs," Marion County Head Coach Patrick Campbell said. 

  • SOFTBALL: Spalding to resign as...

    Jonathan Spalding has announced he will be stepping down as head softball coach at the end of this season. 
    "I've been with the program for six years and decided that was as long as I wanted," Spalding said. "It was fun but it was a hard obligation. I knew I had to walk away at some point."

    On May 14, The Captain took the field at Yankee Stadium for one final time. Though he retired at the end of the 2014 season, this New York Yankees legend still walked onto the baseball diamond as a packed crowd assembled at Yankee Stadium cheered on, savoring this Yankee great's walk onto the field. 

  • Marion County Middle School...

    Marion County Middle School Softball won the Mid Kentucky Conference regular season and conference tournament for the second year in a row. In the tournament, Marion County defeated St Dominic 8-0 and Bardstown 7-3 in the championship.
