  • Woods and Waters: Coyote hunting...

As I sit here staring out the window at the lump of snow hiding my truck all I can think is what happened?
A week ago I was talking about how ‘un-winter’ like the weather had been. And now, the world is white!
Hunting? Nope, not for a while. Most would say the next legal thing to hunt would be wild turkeys. Course, that’s not till April!
So what’s to do till April? We gotta hunt something… Right? Well, as you might have guessed coyote hunting comes to mind. Surprised? Didn’t think so!

  • Finishing it off

    By Gerard Flanagan

One of the most exciting events in sports, if not the most exciting, is the comeback. Think about it for a moment. A team is down by a substantial margin in the game, and storms back late to win it. What once seemed impossible or highly unlikely happened, in the blink of an eye.
Other times, a team isn’t down by a large margin but pulls off a crazy play or series of plays to tie or win the game in the waning seconds. It happened on Saturday between Green Bay and Arizona.

The Marion County Lady Knights kicked off the week by going on the road to face the Lincoln County Lady Patriots on Monday, Jan. 11.
The Lady Knights were unable to pull out the victory in a close game as they fell by two, 64-62.
"We played an excellent game against Lincoln County. Our offense and defense were really clicking," Lady Knights Head Coach Kenny Mills said.

  • Woods and waters: The weather...

The weather for the rest of the winter is going to follow a predictable pattern. Between dusk and dawn it’ll be dark! The rest of the day will have varying degrees of light! With the weather we’ve been experiencing so far, that’s about the only prediction anyone can be sure of!

  • Vaught’s Views: It’s more about...

    By Larry Vaught

There was a time during the offseason that Kentucky coach Matthew Mitchell worried that star junior guard Makayla Epps might not stay at UK — and that was long before he had three players transfer and another player he had to dismiss off this year's team.
Mitchell had suspended his star player in May after she was cited on alcohol-related charges in her hometown of Lebanon in late April. He did not specify at the time how long the suspension would be or exactly what she would have to do to be part of the team this season.
