  • GYMNASTICS: Fit Kids start year...

    Fit Kids gymnastics team competed in the My Old Kentucky Home meet on Jan. 3 and 4.
    Placements in the age divisions
    In Level 1, Kayton Shewmaker was third all-around and took first in the bars, third in beam and vault, and fourth in the floor.
    Mya Kehm took fourth place overall. This included a first in the floor exercises, fourth on the bars and fifth in the vault and beam competitions.
    Lee Anna Darst earned a silver in the overall competition.

  • Knights lose to Trojans

    On Jan. 3 the Marion County Knights (6-6) visited the Barren County Trojans (11-3). Unfortunately for the Knights, they did not come home with a win, losing 60-52.
    In the first quarter, the Knights started strong, taking a 21-11 lead.
    In the second quarter, the Trojans added 24 points, and the Knights added only seven to fall behind at the half, 35-28.

    The Marion County Lady Knights lost their opening game Saturday in the Franklin Family Chevrolet Holiday Jam at Nelson County, but responded with back-to-back wins in the consolation bracket.

    Marion County got off to a rocky start in the Campbellsville Holiday Classic, but the Knights bounced back to win their final two games over the weekend.

    The Knights stand at 5-5 on the season.

  • Former Knight preps for indoor...

    When FaQuawn Calhoun was still a kid, Tony Morgeson asked if he’d like to play football for Morgeson’s youth league team in Lebanon.

    “I fell in love with it [football] ever since,” Calhoun said.

    He continued to play at Marion County High School and at the University of the Cumberlands. Soon, he’ll have a chance to play professionally for the Bemidji Axemen of the Indoor Football League.

We’ve all heard of underdogs, and you probably know that they’re usually not the best. But what about when they win, especially when they beat a top ranked team?
