  • Knights pick up win in final...

    The Knights traveled to Southern High School in Louisville Saturday for their final preseason scrimmage. The freshman, junior varsity, and varsity teams were all in action.
    “Our efforts were much improved over last week,” Head Coach Montrelle Irvin said. “We have to continue to play hard and out work our opponents. Our defense makes our offense go. If we can control the boards and limit our turnovers, we will be fine.”

  • Ready to Rumble

    In the first ranking of the top 25 teams in Kentucky that came out Thursday, the Lady Knights find themselves in familiar territory. For the majority of the past couple of seasons, Marion County has been ranked in the top 10, and finds themselves in the No. 2 spot in the preseason rankings. The No. 1 ranked team is DuPont Manual, the team that sent Marion County home from last year’s state tournament.

  • State Champs

    The 7th and 8th grade Lebanon Middle School girls basketball teams played in the state championship games at Lexington Christian Academy Sunday. The 7th grade team took on Mason County while the 8th grade team played Elkhorn Middle School.
    In the first game of the morning, the Lebanon Middle School 7th grade team was able to defeat Mason County. The Lady Patriots held a 12-5 lead at halftime, and never looked back as they scored 11 points in each of the third and fourth quarters. Lebanon Middle School won by a final score of 34-25, taking home the state championship title.

    Basketball tournament
    The Marion County Knights baseball team will be hosting a 7th and 8th grade basketball tournament On Dec. 2-4. The tournament will be held at the Roby Dome, and money raised will go toward the baseball team. Currently, Lebanon Middle School, St. Charles Middle School, St. Augustine and St. Dominic are scheduled to participate.

  • Players honored at annual banquet

    The Marion County Lady Knights soccer team held their annual postseason awards banquet Wednesday, where several players were honored for their performances during the season.
    Sophomore Colleen Rakes took home the 110 Percent Award, while freshman Noel Obata received the Most Outstanding Offensive Player Award.

  • Knights show promise

    The Marion County High School boys basketball team hit the road last week to open up their preseason with the first of two scrimmages.
    The Fern Creek Tigers hosted the Knights in the second annual Fern Creek “Jam”boree, and came away with a 76-43 victory in the varsity scrimmage. The junior varsity Knights also took on the Tigers, and also were defeated 43-32.
