  • Give me an S-P-O-R-T!

What makes a sport, well, a sport?

    Is it competition? Athletics?

    A combination of both?

I caught myself asking this when I was browsing through sports news a few weeks ago. I asked the question because ESPN’s website had a section for billiards.

    Billiards? I thought. Billiards isn’t a sport!

The Marion County Knights will host the Marion County Holiday Classic this week.

The games will take place on Dec. 26, 27 and 29.

Knights Coach Montrelle Irvin said he was excited to get the classic underway, especially because it has been several years since Marion County has hosted a holiday event.

I thought I wouldn’t be writing again before Christmas but then I got the message, “early deadline.”

So I turned in one article for Monday, and now I’m writing for a Friday turn in! What happens in four days? Well, to be honest, not much!

I did see where Phil Robertson, the daddy of Duck Dynasty, was being dropped for his response to a question he was asked.

  • All for one and done?

    By Will Phillips

    Enterprise correspondent

Because I’m the world’s worst sports fan, and also a part time masochist, I often ask myself, “What’s the worst thing about college sports?”

Is it the disregard for education in favor of athletics? Is it the commercialization of student athletes? Is it the bureaucratic show that is the BCS Bowl season?

  • Marion County sweeps contests...

Tensions were high as the Marion County Knights and Lady Knights opened district play by hosting the Adair County Indians and Lady Indians. Both the Knights (3-1) and Lady Knights (2-0) would taste victory after defeating their opponents 59-49 and 70-63, respectively.

    Both wins were hard earned.

  • Epps scores eight day after wreck

Former Lady Knight Makayla Epps was involved in an automobile accident Saturday evening on the Bluegrass Parkway, but that didn’t stop her from scoring eight points and grabbing three rebounds in the Kentucky women’s basketball win over East Tennessee State on Sunday.

“Somebody ran into me. But, I’m here and that’s the best thing. Nothing terrible happened. I’m here and I got the opportunity to play,” Epps said in postgame comments posted on the UK women’s basketball website.
