  • Knights suffer first defeat of...

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team traveled to Richmond to play Madison Central Saturday night. The Indians came into the game ranked in the top 10 in the state, and gave the Knights fits all night long. Marion County struggled offensively and was defeated 87-53.

  • Lady Knights head to Phoenix

    The Lady Knights are set to face the No. 4 team in the nation in their opening game of the Nike Tournament of Champions in Phoenix, Ariz., on Monday, Dec. 19.
    They will face the Lady Cadets of St. John’s College, which is located in Washington D.C. The Lady Cadets finished last season with only two losses.  

  • Lady Knights take down No. 6...

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity basketball team went on the road Saturday night to play Madison Central, a top 10-ranked team in the state. The Lady Knights played with near perfection, and came away with an impressive 34 point crushing of the Lady Indians to push their record to 5-0 on the season.

  • Lebanon native to be interim...

    Marion County native and former Lady Knight basketball star Sara Higdon Thurmond has been tabbed as interim co-athletic director for the new Thomas Nelson High School in Nelson County. She will be sharing the position with Harold "Junior" Dugan.

    I’d say that we’re well into the Christmas season! Even in a crowded store people are courteous. Well, at least those not in a shopping rage are acting decent.

  • JV/freshman teams pick up wins

    The Marion County Knights junior varsity team hosted Bethlehem at the Roby Dome Thursday evening. The Knights used a big fourth quarter in which they scored 20 points, to claim the victory over Bethlehem, with a final score of 48-42. Clay Lanham led the way for Marion County with 15 points.

  • Can't have it all

    I have heard a coworker sing the song, "You Can't Always Get What You Want" to his daughter, and that phrase rings true in many aspects of our lives. When it comes to the sports world, we get plenty of games to watch, but they don't always go our way.

  • Knights win season opener...

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team hosted Mercer County at the Roby Dome On Tuesday of last week. Playing without senior Carlos Litsey, the Knights struggled on the boards and committed 27 team fouls. However, Marion County was able to pick up the win in front of the home crowd to start the season 1-0 with sophomore Clay Lanham coming off the bench to score 20 points, leading the way for the Knights. John Southall just missed having a double-double by collecting eleven assists and eight points.

  • Knights hang on to defeat...

    The Marion County Knights varsity basketball team went on the road Friday night to play the Nelson County Cardinals in their second game of the season.  Sophomore Alex Smith was able to come off of the bench and lead the Knights to a second straight victory, taking their record to 2-0. A Knights team hasn't gone 2-0 since the 2009-10 season, and only four times since the 2000-01 season.

  • Lady Knights win season opener

    The Marion County Lady Knights varsity basketball team hosted Casey County at the Roby Dome in their season opener Monday of last week. Marion County jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, defeating Casey County by a final score of 69-49.

    After shooting nearly 50 percent for the game and nailing 10 three pointers, the Lady Knights cruised to a 20 point victory. Under Head Coach Trent Milby, the Lady Knights have won their season opener every year except one, 2006-07, Coach Milby's first year.
