  • Dealing with distractions while...

    While dove hunting last week I was distracted by the sound of honking, as in geese honking, or so I thought!
    Turned out to be the cell phone of one of the other guys, but it did sound good.
    Later, I heard it again. I’d been fooled once so I didn’t even acknowledge hearing it. Then, I heard it again!
    “Enough with the phone already.” We were supposed to be shooting doves, not playing games on the phone.

  • Epps hired as Lady Knights’ head...

    Anthony Epps was hired today, Sept. 13, to become the Lady Knights basketball team's head coach.
    Epps served as an assistant coach last season, and also served as the boys basketball coach during the 2010-11 season, until he resigned following an arrest for DUI and reckless driving.

  • Soccer Knights just keeps winning

    In a flurry of wins, the Marion County Knights eliminated all of their competition last week.

    Now 6-1, the Knights can sit a little more confidently when they look at their goals for the season. 

  • Lady Knights score first soccer...

    The Marion County Lady Knights won their first district game of season when they went against the Hart County Lady Raiders in a 7-6 game last week. 

    During the first half of the game, the Lady Knights fired four shots into the net thanks to junior midfielder Noel Obata and senior forwards Miranda Bradshaw and Colleen Rakes. 

  • Marion County improves to 4-1

    The Marion County Lady Knights went up against the Washington County Commanderettes and the Green County Dragons in two games last week.

    On Sept. 3, the Lady Knights defeated the host Commanderettes after a grueling five set game (25-23, 25-17, 16-25, 18-25, 15-13). 

  • Football Knights fall to Tigers...

    The Bardstown Tigers defeated the visiting Marion County Knights on Friday night, 45-31. 

    Knights Coach Jeff Robbins thought his team made too many mental mistakes during the game.

    “[There] were too many blown assignments defensively and [we] just didn’t execute offensively,” Robbins said.

  • Football is in full swing

    Notes written while hoping that all of you had Peyton Manning on your fantasy football teams …

    Football season is most definitely here, now that everybody from the pee-wees to the pros has started their seasons.

    The Marion County Knights are off to a rough start. After an opening week victory over Lloyd Memorial, the Knights suffered a loss in a close contest to Bell County in a game that was stopped by Mother Nature.

  • Knights split golf matches

    The Marion County Knights played against the Nelson County Tigers and Bethlehem Eagles a pair of matches last week. 

    The Knights put away the Tigers on their home turf when they shot a 180 to the Tigers 201 Sept. 3.
