  • 6-8 softball champs

  • Baseball camp a success

Recently, Marion County High School Baseball Head Coach Chad Spalding, along with several members of the Knights baseball team, hosted their annual baseball camp. This year the camp was broken into two segments of two days each. Older kids, ages 9-14, had their camp first followed by kid's ages seven and eight with their camp the next two days.
The 2012 camp marked the 14th camp in the 16 years since Spalding has been the coach of the team. Spalding said the camps usually attract between 40 and 50 kids each year.

  • Biking for a good cause

The Bike the Bluegrass event made a return trip to the roadways of Marion and Washington counties this past weekend. Last year, during the first weekend of June, the same event crossed through the community and raised a large sum of money to fund research for multiple sclerosis. Like last year, the course started at St. Catharine College in Springfield, and made its way through the countryside of Marion and Washington counties.

  • Voices of the games

In the upcoming weeks of The Lebanon Enterprise, a group of individuals will be featured in stories highlighting their contributions to Marion County sports.  The contributions to each person's respective sport are something that most people take for granted. I know I have from time to time.

  • Divines qualify for regional USA...

Brooks and Ty Divine competed in the USA Track and Field Kentucky Association Junior Olympic Championships in Louisville Saturday. Ty Divine, who at age 12 competes on the Marion County High School track team, placed first in the 1500-meter run and seventh in the 400-meter dash among competitors in his age group.

  • Get involved in good, wholesome...

I spent an entire week at 4-H camp with some of Marion County's finest youth. Of course the Adair, Green and Clinton County kids, teens and adults were awesome, too!
If you have kids and want to expose them to good, wholesome fun and a learning experience, then you can't go wrong by getting them involved in 4-H.
There's fishing, my venue, which meets the third Tuesday of every month. Want to shoot archery, shotguns, muzzleloaders and rifles the correct and safe way?
If so, the 4H Shooting Sports Program is for you.

  • Marion County softball finishes...

The Marion County Lady Knights softball team became the first team in school history to reach the finals of the 5th Region Tournament. Before that, four teams had made it to the semifinals in 1995, 1998, 2002, and 2010.
