  • Marks to be inducted into 5th...

    Humble.
That's one word that could be used to describe long-time coach Danny Marks would be humble.
Marks was involved in coaching young athletes in Marion County for more than 45 years until his retirement from coaching in February of 2010.
March 6, he will be inducted into the fifth region Hall of Fame.
Marks has coached several different basketball teams throughout his tenure and was also involved in baseball and softball programs. Marks has coached more than 200 teams and more than 2,000 athletes during his career.

  • Success on the hardwood

Throughout the basketball seasons, I have observed some great games. That was also true this past week and weekend while attending the district basketball games held at Taylor County High School. With both the boys and girls teams having the No. 1 seed in the district standings, they were both able to play Campbellsville on Tuesday of last week, both winning their respective games and guaranteeing their trips to the 5th Region tournament.

  • Shooting hoops to stop domestic...

The Caring Place in Lebanon is sponsoring the March Madness Against Domestic Violence Basketball Tournament, a co-ed tournament for interested elementary school students March 31 - April 1. The tournament will be offered to elementary schools (grades 4-5) in Marion, Nelson, Taylor and Washington counties.
There will also be a silent auction that will be on display the duration of the tournament.
Each team will be comprised of A, B, and C players from the same school.

  • Fishing season is just around...

Your 2011 Kentucky Hunting/Fishing License expired at midnight on Wednesday, Feb. 29. So, time to renew!
The Ky. Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is primarily funded by your hunting/fishing license fees, permits you purchase and some money from taxes you pay on hunting and fishing equipment.
No general tax money goes to the KDFWR. So, in truth, as outdoorsmen and women, we pay our own way.
I take a certain amount of pride in that!
