  • Lady Knights capture 3 wins

    The Marion County Lady Knights softball team picked up three wins last week. The team's overall record is now 15-4. After capturing the first regular season district title in school history, the team is playing well heading into the final stretch of the season. The team's final regular season game is scheduled for May 19, just two days prior to the start of the district tournament. The 20th district softball tournament will be played at Taylor County High School, while the 5th region tournament is scheduled to be played at Marion County.

  • Divine breaks his own record,...

    The Marion County High School track team participated in its final meet of the regular season at Green County Friday night. Junior Brooks Divine, who had broken his own school pole vault record several times, once again eclipsed his personal mark. Divine surpassed his 14'2" mark by clearing 14'6" at the Green County meet. Full results will be available in next week's issue. The teams will be competing in regional competition for the remainder of the week before heading to state competition at the University of Louisville next Thursday through Saturday.

    The Marion County Knights baseball team won three out of four games last week. The Knights overall record now stands at 11-11, with their district standings at 2-2.

    The Marion County Knights baseball team hosted John Hardin at Dave Hourigan Field Saturday morning, scoring early and often to pick up a 14-0 win in five innings of play.

  • 2012 Bike and Hike

    The fifth annual Bike and Hike was held April 28 at Graham Memorial Park. Hundreds of people participated in the 5K run/walk and the 10K bike ride.
    The event was organized by the Marion Count Health Department, Marion County Community Education and the Marion County Extension Office.

  • Turkeys can be hard to get

    Found everything. Got the coffee fixed and the thermos full. Some snacks in the pack and camo’d up. And, it was only 5:30 a.m.
    A short drive to a friend’s farm, the blind set up and still dead silent in the dark, and it was 6 a.m.
    Then it happened. A gobble! Birds flying down and more gobbles, it’s 7 a.m. After a few calls it sounds like the bird(s) are heading my way. A movement, a red head, my bird on the way!
