  • Triple Threat

    Three Marion County Lady Knights have received invitations recently to try out for the Kentucky squad in the annual Kentucky/Indiana all-star game sponsored by the Lions Eye Foundation. The tryouts will be held on March 23-24 at Georgetown College.  
    Last season, Marion County’s Bre Elder played in the game. This year, the game will once again be played in Freedom Hall on June 14, and will travel to the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis the following night.

  • Lovin’ it: MCHS’ Epps a McD’s...

    Makayla Epps has made history in Marion County again.
    Epps was recently chosen to play on the most prestigious and highly recognized high school all-star game in the country, the McDonald’s All-American game. No other athlete in Marion County history has ever been chosen as a member of this elite team.
    Epps is currently averaging 23.3 points per game, 4.2 steals per game, and 4.5 assists per game, all while her team has just finished a perfect 30-0 regular season.

  • Sign-ups underway for Caring...

    The Caring Place, a domestic violence shelter, presents a “Spring Into Action Against Domestic Violence” basketball tournament on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7, at Marion County High School and Lebanon Middle School. The proceeds from this tournament will be given to The Caring Place to provide services and safety for the women and children that come to their shelter and outreach center. This fundraiser will also raise public awareness about this crime against our women and children.

  • Deer: Blair

    Trey Blair, age 14, killed this 8-point buck during youth season on his Papaw’s farm in New Hope.

  • Deer: Bland

    Brooklynne Bland, age 9, killed her first buck, a 13-pointer. She is the daughter of Keith and Lara Bland.
     

  • Deer: Smith

    Avery Smith, age 9, killed this 9-point buck on Dec. 30, 2012, in Taylor County. She is the daughter of Jeremy and Lisa Smith.

  • Divine set to defend indoor...

    Marion County High School senior Brooks Divine competed in the Henderson County Invitational indoor track and field meet recently. Divine finished second in the pole vault event by clearing 14’ 0”. The winner of the completion from Evansville, Ind., cleared 14’ 6”.
    This past weekend, Divine headed back to Henderson County to compete in a pole vault only event. Divine failed to clear the bar after three tries and received no height.

  • JV Knights second in district...

    The Marion County High School junior varsity boys basketball team headed to Adair County High School to play in their district tournament Saturday. The Knights opened up the tournament with a win over Taylor County, but fell to Adair County in the finals.
    Marion County defeated Taylor County by a final score of 49-44 to advance to the finals. Clay Rodgers led four Knights in double figures with 15 points in the win.

  • Adair County tops Lady Knights...

    The Marion County High School junior varsity girls basketball team headed to Adair County Wednesday to take part in their district tournament.
    After a back and forth game, the Lady Knights fell by a final score of 47-46 in double overtime in the first game of the tournament.
