  • Baseball players earn their...

The Marion County High School baseball team survived a tough week, winning two of five games while sending two games into extra innings.

Knights Head Coach Chad Spalding is looking for more from his offense in hopes of at least splitting the remaining games on the schedule.

  • Lancers lose in overtime

The return of former Western Kentucky Hilltopper Boris Siakam wasn't enough to push the Lebanon Lancers past the Cincinatti Stallions in the second week of Kentucky Basketball Developmental League play.

The Lancers fell 111-103 in the extra period.

Siakam played for last year's squad but has been busy getting married and trying out for other squads recently.

"He's gonna be off and on (the team) because he's working out for different people," Lancers Head Coach Mark Bell said.

  • Q & A with former athlete...

Patrick Campbell is a 2003 graduate of Marion County High School who is currently coaching at MCHS for both baseball and football.

What sports did you play while you were at MCHS? What positions?

I played receiver for football and then middle infield for the baseball team.

      Which sport did you prefer?

I think overall I was a better football player, but my true passion is with baseball.

  • Knights slide into district play

The Marion County High School baseball team stumbled last week, coming up short in both outings.

DuPont Manual, a late addition to the Knights schedule, rocked the locals 15-3 on Tuesday of last week in Louisville.

"We were winning 3-0 after the second inning. It looked like we were going to play some baseball but then the wheels came completely off," Head Coach Chad Spalding said.

  • Celtics earn trip down south

The Marion County Lady Celtics have taken the state by storm.   If you don't know who they are, you soon will.

They are the Marion County girls nine and under AAU basketball team that now boasts a state championship to go with their 21-1 record. The Lady Celtics have been invited to compete for the national championship in Monroe, La., from June 26 through July 1.

Donna Bradshaw and Jimmy Wiser were the forces behind getting the team together and Todd Mattingly was selected as the head coach in March.

  • Lancers open with a win

The Cincinatti Stallions started hot but cooled off enough in the second half to allow the Lebanon Lancers their first win on opening night in franchise history.

"We've got a long way to go but we'll get it done," Head Coach Mark Bell said. "We've got to give them (Stallions) credit, they came to play."

Several members of the Marion County High School boys basketball team were honored recently at the post-season banquet, including senior Christopher Southall who took home season MVP honors.

In a solid week for the Marion County High School boys tennis team, weather and a surprise addition to the Washington County roster made for a colorful start to the season.

Washington County added two previously home schooled players to their roster, putting them to work for the first time against Marion County.

  • Lady Knights control the court

The Marion County High School girls tennis team wrapped up a 4-2 record after two weeks of play. A match against Mercer County wasn't finished due to weather.

"Everybody is at this point pretty much doing what I expected. We're still trying to get our seeding all the way through," Head Coach Angela Holt said. "We just now got to where there are no conflicts with band. They're pretty much where I figured where they would be. They're all very enthusiastic and having fun. They're working at it pretty hard."
