    The Marion County track team hosted its all-comers meet at Marion County High School Saturday. The Knights and Lady Knights posted some impressive times and showings at the meet, and collected several first place finishes. Overall, the team won 13 events and it was a great night for the team, according to Assistant Coach Daniel Johnson.

    Parents of students interested in playing high school soccer should be aware of a few upcoming meetings.

    Parents of boys in grades 7-12 who are interested in playing high school soccer should attend at meeting at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at the Marion County High School library.

  • St. Catharine hosts 5K race on...

    The St. Catharine College capstone management class invites everyone to visit St. Catharine College on Saturday, April 13, to celebrate both SCC’s eighth-annual military appreciation and senior baseball day.
    This year’s military appreciation day will start with a 5K run/walk at 8 a.m. On the starting gun - a Civil War cannon - runners will begin their race from the starting/finishing line in front of the college’s Hamilton Science Building, travel 2.5 kilometers toward Springfield on old Hwy 150 and then return to the finish line on the SCC campus.

    Last weekend our youth had their shot (pun intended) at a spring turkey!
    Now, come April 13, it’s time for us big boys and girls to play. We have from this Saturday until May 5 to do our spring thing. That’s 23 days of gobbler chasin’ coming up!

  • Knights drop two of three

    The Marion County Knights baseball team played three games during spring break week, losing two of the three contests. Marion County’s record on the season now stands at 5-6.
    “I think our team is growing,” Coach Chad Spalding said. “We have hit well the first third of the season and the pitching has been better than average. We will continue to work to get better with the gloves and clean baseball.”

  • Lady Knights bounce back

    The Marion County Lady Knights softball team defeated Thomas Nelson on April 1 and then went to Clarksville, Tenn., to play in the Play It Again Classic Friday and Saturday, where they played four games, winning three of those contests. The Lady Knights’ record now stands at 7-5.

  • Two Lady Knights will represent...

    Marion County Lady Knights Makayla Epps and Kyvin Goodin-Rogers will be heading to Crestview Hills to play in the 22nd annual Kentucky/Ohio All-Star Game Saturday evening.
    The girls game is set to tip-off at 5:30 p.m., with the boys game to follow.  Doors will open one hour prior to the tip-off of the girls game. The games will be played at Thomas More College. The head coach of the girls team will be Lady Knight Head Coach Trent Milby.

    Marion County High School senior Makayla Epps’ said competing in the 2013 McDonald’s All American Game at the United Center in Chicago, Ill., Wednesday evening, was an amazing experience.

    Last Wednesday night, Marion County High School senior Makayla Epps competed in the 2013 McDonald's All American Game at the United Center in Chicago as a member of the East team.  Epps finished the game with 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 1 assist in the East's 92-64 loss to the West team.  Epps became the first Marion County player to be selected for this honor and one of only three girls ever in the state of Kentucky.
