  • Lady Knights capture third...

    The Marion County High School Lady Knights (25-6) basketball team didn't surprise many when they reeled off their third straight 20th District tournament championship over Adair County on Friday night at Adair County. The Lady Knights won 63-45 over Adair County.

  • Lady Knights look to advance

    The Marion County Lady Knights looked to advance out of the first round of the 5th Region tournament for the first time in three seasons on Tuesday night against North Hardin.

    Under Head Coach Trent Milby, the Lady Knights have fallen in the first round of the region tournament by a combined seven points in the previous two seasons. The Lady Knights looked to break that streak on Tuesday night. Results were not known at press time.   • Crume takes head coaching...

    The Marion County High School football team will be short at least one coach for now. Offensive Coordinator Corey Crume, who's been with the team for the last two years, accepted a head coaching position on Thursday of last week with Southern High School in Louisville.

  • MCHS to host boys 5th Region...

    Marion County High School landed a good year to host the boys 5th Region basketball tournament. With over half the field with a legitimate shot at winning the title and earning a trip to the state tournament, it could result in a week of capacity crowds and last possession games.

    North Hardin, Taylor County, Adair County, Bardstown and John Hardin could all be seen as serious contenders to earn a trip to Rupp Arena. LaRue County brings a stellar record but has struggled against some of the teams in the tournament field. Here's a look at the schedule.

  • Scott and Bradshaw receive...

    After winning their first district tournament title since 2004, the good news keeps coming for two seniors on the Marion County High School volleyball team.

    Rosanna Scott and Kristen Bradshaw have been announced as winners of the first ever Heather Garrett Memorial Scholarship.

    Scott is the daughter of Dr. Brian and Lorraine Scott. She currently has a 4.0 G.P.A. and scored a 30 on the ACT test. She plans to attend the University of Louisville and is undecided on her major.

  • Knights bow out

    The Marion County boys’ basketball team (8-22) proved they could compete with two out of three of their district opponents. Unfortunately for them, they drew the team that had match up problems with for their first round game in the 20th District tournament on Wednesday night of last week.

    Adair County gave the Knights problems all season, winning by nearly 20 points in both regular season match ups.

    Wednesday's game started in a better fashion for the Knights but ended with the same result as the Knights fell 69-36 to the hot shooting Indians.

  • Lady Knights advance in the...

     The Marion County Lady Knights advanced past the first round of the Fifth Region tournament Tuesday night after making a quick exit the last two seasons. 

    The Lady Knights held on in the final seconds and beat the North Hardin Lady Trojans 48-47 at Nelson County High School.

  • Knights fight hard against top...

    The Marion County Knights (8-21) couldn't win one for departing long time assistant coach Josh McKay but they came close enough to give a streaky LaRue County (21-5) squad a scare at the Roby Dome on Friday night.

    "It came down to a possession and we had two opportunities but never took a shot," Knights Head Coach Tim Peterson said. "A couple of guys hesitated. We just didn't execute and you have to execute in those situations. We never have gotten past that."

  • Lebanon Lancers open 2009 season...

    Season tickets are now on sale for Lebanon Lancers games. The Lancers, central Kentucky's semi-pro basketball team, open the 2009 season at home against the Cincinnati Stallions, the Kentucky Basketball Developmental League's newest team, April 11.

    Last season, the Lancers won the KBDL regular-season and playoff titles and the Bluegrass Conference. Lancers point guard Anthony Epps was named league MVP, Lancers Head Coach Mark Bell was Coach of the Year and Lancers Marketing Director Chris Hamilton was Executive of the Year.

  • Lady Knights ride momentum into...

    The Marion County Lady Knights (23-6) ended a solid regular season by knocking off what Head Coach Trent Milby earlier described as a dangerous up-and-coming LaRue County team.

    The Lady Knights kept LaRue's weapons, Lyndsay and Valerie Whitlock, in check by blanking Valerie. Lyndsay led the Lady Hawks with 14 points.

    Marion County jumped out to a 16-4 lead with 2:00 left in the first quarter. They finished the quarter with a 16-6 lead.

    The second quarter was more of the same, with the Lady Knights outscoring LaRue County 19-6 to go up 35-12 at the half.
