  • Lady Knights crush Campbellsville

    The Marion County Lady Knights jumped out to a 17-1 lead against district foe Campbellsville on Friday night and never looked back.

    The host Lady Eagles never recouped from the 15-0 run, trailing 28-3 at the end of the first quarter. A bevy of turnovers and blocked shots kept the Lady Eagles from getting into a rhythm as the Lady Knights applied a smothering full court defense.

  • Locals face off with Taylor...

    The Knights and Lady Knights hit the road to take on Taylor County on Friday night. The Lady Knights tip off at 6:30 p.m. and the Knights tip off at 7:30 p.m. according to the KHSAA website.

    The Lady Knights hit a rough patch in their schedule that should test their skills. After facing district foe Adair County on Tuesday night, the ladies take on Taylor (8-7) on Friday night then travel to Louisville the next day to play highly touted Sacred Heart High School (13-2), who is ranked seventh in the state in last week's Louisville Courier-Journal Litkenhous Ratings.

  • JV and freshmen drop several...

    The Marion County High School freshman boys basketball team beat Campbellsville High School on Friday.

    The Knights outlasted the Eagles 47-29 at Campbellsville. Patrick Gribbins led the way for Knights with 18 points. Eric Burton added 12 points while Eric Farmer dropped in seven of his own. John Southall had four points while Carlos Litsey, Vincent Collins and Brandon Sandusky had two points.

  • Lady Knights roll to 8th...

    The Marion County Lady Knights sent a message to Fifth Region opponents on Friday night at the Roby Dome.

    They have arrived. And they're not going anywhere for a while.

    With two fifths of their starting lineup not even enrolled at Marion County High School yet, the Lady Knights picked apart junior center Samantha Drake and Fifth Region contender Nelson County for a 59-55 win.

    "They played under control. They just played one of the best games that they've played all around since I've been here," Lady Knights Head Coach Trent Milby said.

  • Lady Knights vie for top...

    The Marion County Lady Knights will vie for the top seed in 20th District tournament on Jan. 20 at home against the Adair County Lady Indians. If the Lady Knights win, they are guaranteed the top seed in the tournament and will likely be paired against Campbellsville in the first round barring a Lady Eagles turn around.

    The Lady Knights travel to Campbellsville on Friday to play the Lady Eagles. In their first head-to-head the Lady Knights prevailed 63-22. The Lady Knights smothering pressure defense held the Lady Eagles to their lowest scoring output of the season.

  • Knights remain last in district

    A wild week in district action shifted the standings and provided a clearer picture of the Fifth Region.

    Marion County remained last place in the race for tournament seeds. The Knights have been inactive in district play since Jan. 2. They resume district play on Friday against Campbellsville on the road.

    Adair County is still undefeated in the 20th District with their next district game against Marion County on Jan. 20 at the Roby Dome. Adair beat the Knights on their home turf 58-41 in early December.

  • Knights can't hit against...

    The Marion County Knights had a rough week, dropping two against Fifth Region opponents. The Knights are currently on a four game skid, which started with a 48-point loss to North Hardin.

    The Knights looked like it could pull out a victory against the Cardinals having chances down the stretch.

    Senior Chris Southall hit two of three free throws to pull the Knights within one (54-53) with 11 seconds to go. Southall was 7-8 from the line on the game.

  • CKTS host Danville club

    The Central Kentucky Tiger Sharks hosted a dual meet at the Lebanon Aquatic Center on Jan. 10-11, against the Danville Aquatic Club. The visiting team brought 47 swimmers to our pool against 22 CKTS swimmers. The CKTS were out-scored 4,963-1,535.

    "It was nice to see the effort our swimmers put into training over Christmas break pay off in a meet," said Coach Mike Carey. "I look forward to the rest of the season."

    The CKTS swimmers will compete next in Owensboro on Feb. 27-March 1.

  • Sure Shots to host membership...

    The Marion County Sure Shots, a shooting team affiliated with 4-H, is hosting its membership meeting on Jan. 20.

    According to co-founder Debbie Glasscock, the Sure Shots are starting their second year of existence in Marion County. The club hosts indoor meetings once a month during the winter months. Around March or April, the club heads outdoors to hit the shooting range twice a month.

    Children of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate and parents are welcome in this family oriented sport.
