  • Lady Knights invited to NIKE...


    The Marion County Lady Knights basketball team is scheduled to travel to Phoenix, Ariz., Dec. 18-22 to participate in the NIKE Tournament of Champions.
    The Marion County Board of Education approved the tournament request during its monthly meeting last week.
    To attend this event, the members of the Lady Knights basketball team will have to raise their own money, and no money from the high school will be used to fund this trip.
    “We will raise around $15,000 towards this tournament,” Head Coach Trent Milby said.

  • Lady Knights have a down week

    The Marion County Lady Knights softball team had a down week, losing four out of five games. Throughout the week, the Lady Knights played district rival Adair County at home, Mercer County on the road, and played three games in the Boyle County tournament held Friday and Saturday. This past week’s action takes Marion County’s record to 11-9.
    “We are not playing well, but hopefully next week will be a better week with better results,” Head Coach Trent Milby said.

  • Teams vie in Derby Day doubles

    The Marion County Knights boys tennis team traveled to Lexington on Saturday to compete in the Kentucky Derby Day doubles event hosted by Kyle Macy. The bulk of the matches were played at the University of Kentucky tennis complex (Hillary J. Boone Tennis Center) and were later moved to the Lexington Tennis club due to rain.

  • Knights drop three of four

    The Marion County Knights played four games last week and came away with victories in only one of them. On Thursday night, the Knights hosted the Bardstown Tigers, on Friday evening the Knights hosted the Whitefield Academy Wildcats, and on Saturday the Knights went on the road to face North Hardin in a doubleheader. The win gives the Knights a total of eight on the season with 11 losses.

    The Marion County Industrial Softball League is getting ready to begin its 2011 season.  If you would like to organize a team and work for a business or industry in Lebanon/Marion County or Washington County, please contact your human resource department at work for information.
    * All games will be played at Graham Memorial Park, Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
    * Co-ed regulation and rules
    * First game is scheduled for June

  • Volleyball basic skills camp is...

    Marion County Head Volleyball Coach David Hibbard has announced that there will be a basic volleyball skills camp at Marion County High School June 14-16, running each day from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The camp is available to middle school volleyball players, first year players, or any students (grades 6-12) interested in learning about volleyball.
    The three-day training will cover topics including passing, setting, hitting, serving, offense, and defense. There will be a $60 cost for the camp, which includes a shirt, training, and lunch each day.

  • Team competes in invitational

    Friday, the Marion County boys and girls track teams competed in the Green County Track and Field Invitational. The girls team finished in sixth place overall with a total of 45 points and the boys team took eighth place with 52.5 points.
    “The girls had a good night,” Head Coach Robby Peterson said. “Natavia (Young), and Tamyra (McElroy) are really coming on strong in the long jump, triple jump, and shot put. The boys relay teams had a good night as well.”
    Peterson went on to comment on some injuries that the team is dealing with.
