The Marion County High School Knights struggled in nearly all phases of the game in a 55-6 loss to host Lexington Catholic Friday night. However, the touchdown that Marion County scored in the third period snapped a streak of 11 consecutive quarters of scoreless football.

  • Lady Knights bow out early in...

Last Wednesday, the Marion County High School Lady Knights soccer team was hoping to ride the momentum of their first ever district championship win into the regional tournament.
Instead, the team lost to the Bardstown Lady Tigers, 11-1, in the first round of the regional tournament Oct. 17 at Central Hardin High School.
After drawing a first round bye, the Lady Knights played their first game in the semifinals of the tournament.  Marion County junior Colleen Rakes sat out the game with a concussion.

  • Perfect weather marks start of...

I feel sorry for those who missed ... for whatever reason ... this past weekend’s early muzzleloader season!
The weather was about perfect and the deer sign was everywhere. A few days earlier we ... Brian Walls and I ... had found a scrape/rub line that was textbook perfect.
Eight scrapes, with licking branches, were in a line across a ridge and it looked like someone had taken a weedeater to the brush and trees.
It was a classic setup, classic!

  • Three for three

Well, last week was a good week in sports for Marion County High School. Three different sports teams came out with a district tournament championship title and were able to advance to their respective regional tournaments. These three teams were volleyball and boys and girls soccer. I had the pleasure of watching all three of those championship games, and each team played extremely well to win their crowns.
