  • Lady Knights clinch top seed in...

    The Marion County Lady Knights softball team played games against Campbellsville and Adair County this past week in district play, and then competed in the Jaguar Classic this past weekend at East Jessamine. The varsity team did not play Boyle County, as it was changed to a double junior varsity game Thursday night. After winning three of the five contests, the Lady Knights are 16-7 overall, 6-1 in the district, giving them the No. 1 seed in the district tournament.

    The Marion County Lady Knights tennis team competed in the Heartland Conference in Campbellsville on Sunday and Monday of last week, where the doubles duo of Elyssa Holt and Madison Cassidy came away with their fifth straight title.

  • Knights win conference tennis...

    The Marion County Knights tennis team won the Heartland Conference tournament recently.
    The singles final pitted Marion County players against each other, and the tournament favorite, Alex Spalding, won singles  ttitle.  Coach Landon Williams said Spalding continues to progress and attract attention statewide.

  • Track team has pair of good...

    The Marion County track team competed in a pair of meets last week in Bardstown and Green County. In the Bardstown, the girls finished in ninth place overall with 30.5 points and the boys team finished in sixth place with 47 points.

  • Tennis teams keep rolling on

    The Marion County High School Knights and Lady Knights tennis won four of five matches last week. The Knights defeated Central Hardin and Bethlehem, and the Lady Knights defeated Central Hardin, Bethlehem and Bardstown.
    The Knights edged the Central Hardin Bruins, 3-2. In singles, Alex Spalding defeated Tad Skaggs, 6-1, 6-1. Ryker Cassidy defeated Kevin Britt, 7-5, 6-1, and Durbin Richardson defeated Alex Norton, 6-0, 4-6 (10-7), in a super tiebreaker.  

  • Some tactics to try when hunting...

    Turkey season so far has been less than productive. Confounding or frustrating would be good choices in describing my efforts!
    I’m hearing birds but they’re either hanging up or just plain ignoring my efforts. Can’t quite figure out what I’m doing wrong, if anything? It just might be the birds aren’t in the mood!
    Or, it could be the technique I’m using.
    Yes, there are differing “techniques” used in turkey hunting.

  • Baseball Knights win for the road

    The Marion County Knights baseball team played two district games on the road last week. Friday’s scheduled home game against Fern Creek was cancelled due to wet field conditions.
    The Knights are 11-7 overall and 3-1 in the district.

    The Marion County Lady Knights softball team won district home games against Campbellsville and Taylor County and road games at Washington County and Danville last week. The Lady Knights improved to 13-5 overall and 4-0 in the district.

    A total of 124 cyclists and runners participated in the annual Family Bike and Hike 5k Run/Walk Saturday, April 20, in Lebanon. The event is hosted by the Marion County Fitness and Nutrition Coalition.
